MM Links Solutions November 2010 [Week 1]

This first week in the reign of Lady Slaney II attracted a healthy field of nearly 50 entrants, all trying to outwit “She who has twice outwitted Strix”. With an adopted French theme (and some relieved that slaney hadn’t been an au pair in China or Outer Mongolia) many of the more popular options had been considered but the final selection of links were as follows:

SOUTHERN Belle
Internet Café
PAIN Killer
DARK Chocolate

There proved to be little success amongst the very early birds, but points began flow as the number of postings approached double figures.

BTW Did I detect the return of an old friend in FoxLee2 (aka Foxy Ladee)? If so, welcome back!

First to strike lucky was beejay1124 with PAIN KILLER for TWO POINTS. This same link also found favour with Grenmus, miss meg and owllady within time to claim their Two Points. At 09.03, ulysses100 declared her passion for DARK CHOCOLATE and was quickly followed by centrino who declared a passion for the SOUTHERN BELLE. With that famous line ringing in my ears, viz. “Frankly, my dear I don’t care a damn!”, I am pleased to award TWO POINTS to each.

Before the natural break at 09.05, fordward launched the prediction of the round by confessing using Dark Chocolate as a Pain Killer for Four Points and hence qualifies for the coveted title of HOT SHOT OF THE WEEK. Well done indeed!

With INTERNET CAFÉ still to be pinned down, it survived only until Strix himself (who else?) entered the scene at 09.26am to claim the last link for the remaining TWO POINTS. Thereafter Jim, Handbaglady, Elspeth, LaneyB, patchett, joto, Mrs Ont-ice, cliffyg and Magyar found success (mainly with Pain Killer with a few Southern Belles thrown in) each picking up a single point.

However, special mention must be made of ex-multiple MM Links Champion, wickedtongue, who was Entrant #27 and at 10.42am made a (late) double hit with Internet Café and Pain Killer for Two Points to join the early front runners.

The League Table after this first week is:

With only one week over, it is still early days yet to try to predict how things are likely to develop. I shall be keeping on eye on fordward to see if he can maintain this early (but modest) lead.

I have had to check back 13 pages to confirm that i had 'Southern Belle' as an answer
It would appear that I have been overlooked by crofter in his countback. I look forward to a correction when next weeks trotals are announced.
