Hi all
I hope one of you could guide me here.
I bought a new TV from Currys just over a week ago and it was amazing for a few days until something caught my eye.
When watching a Blu Ray movie, I noticed cloudy lighting which I now know is called backlight bleeding.
I call Knowhow and was told straight away that this was the cause and he said it was a manufacturing fault and gave me a code for returning it to store. He stated I was still covered under my 30 days ( not sure what)
Reading online it seems this is a common issue with backlit TV's and some people are prepared to live with it
I am yet to return due to work but will be this week
My question is when I return , I want an exchange or a refund , I don't want them to say they need to return it to manufacturers for testing or fixing to see if it is faulty. I paid over £1000 for it and don't expect to return it after a week and then have to wait.
I am more than prepared to have the same TV from them but a completely new one or a different one if need be.

Look up the model and see if others are reporting the same issue, or if it is a known fault.

Also look up the Consumer Rights Act - they actually give template letters to us.

If you post the make and model number on here, some ABer (probably Buenchico, as he's brilliant with stuff like this) will be able to help you, and advise whether to go for a different model/make
I think over £1000 is a fortune to pay for a telly, to be honest.

But that is my opinion and obviously not yours !

You should get your money back and have another go, at another make.....you never know....you might find something cheaper and you can spend the money you have saved on something else !

And be prepared to stand your ground....Currys/PCWorld is renowned for trying to wriggle out of the statutory requirements of the legislation....which is why I never buy from them.

Agreed it is a lot to spend on a TV and normally I wouldn't spend that much but a bonus I wasn't expecting persuaded me!
...as you can see, you have an automatic right to REJECT items that are unsatisfactory up to thirty days from purchase...
It doesn't sound as if Currys are going to quibble, but if they can wriggle out of a cash refund, they will....stand your ground !

mikey, you're well behind the times with prices. In 1968 a colour tv cost £304 10s plus £55 9s purchase tax - that is why many people rented them, they were so expensive compared to weekly income.

HC....I am not behind at all. There are Tellys on my local Currys that cots £3000 and upwards. By any stretch of the imagination, that is a huge amount to pay. I earn about £800 a month, and its a large multiple of my earnings !

But there are some really nice looking models for less that £500.....some much less.

But I will agree that the Telly that Sliddy bought looks the bees knees.
It's absolutely none of your business how much anyone else chooses to pay for a TV Mikey.
ladybirder.......slid-away has already replied to me on that subject, and hasn't raised any objection, so why are you doing so now ?

Just to let you know, absolutely no problem taking this back. Exchanged for new TV. It helped that I had a RA code from Knowhow helpline so it must have been a known fault.
