I need to get a new dress in the spring/ earlier summer.

I plan to wear it to yet another of my friends parties (well his parents party who've said he can invite some people), that's going to celebrate the royal wedding, and his mum said that 'everyone should wear their best frock!'

Plus I'll wear it to the wedding reception kind of party of my cousin. You know, the one whose getting married in America, but hardly anyone will be there, so they're having a party a few days after they get from their honeymoon.

I don't really read the fashion magazines (CBA as I don't really have the time).

Any ideas for colour(s) and style?

Colours that suit me; muddy and metallic colours.
Style; I haven't a foggy.
Length will be below the knees.

ok lets try to cover the basics - do you need accessories or do you have them, if so tell us the colours that will save time later when someone takes the time to respond and gets a
"yeah but"
still thinking.......this is such a tricky one ........can I get back to you?
there are so many sales on, why don't you look at some of the websites from your favourite shops? you might find some inspiration.

Fluff I have acessories but don't mind buying new ones, aslong as they aren't too expensive.
molly, only you can know what suits you. Go to a decent store - do you have a factory outlet near you? - go to New Look or Primark (or even good old M&S if you can get to a big one) and see what they have, if you want to buy something more classic and not just trendy. If I were you I would plan the dress for the family wedding, not the Royal party - the wedding one is personal. You can dress it up for the Royal wedding with sashes and Royal-type medals and brooches!

And btw i'd prefer to wear shoes i've already got, shoe shopping is a nightmare.

I have silver sequinned dolly shoes, or cork heeled wedge shoes, with gold silver and bronze straps, or white dolly shoes with a pink flower on with a glass gem in in middle.

I wasn't planning as dressing as the queen etc for the royal wedding party, just wear a nice, formal dress, maybe a tiara aswell.

Nautical themed dresses are 'in' at the moment and thers hundres on-line ot choose from.My daughter has a beautiful navy one with gold buttons she got from New Look.

fat fingers ^^ lol
Next and Debenhams both have personal shoppers in some of their stores who will help you decide what suits you and do all the legwork for you, and it won't cost you a penny more than whatever you decide to buy - maybe this would help you?

I think young girls look lovely in maxi dresses........have a look on the Monsoon site for ideas.
Just as a matter of interest, what are 'Dolly Shoes'? No, I'm not about to become a cross dresser!
I have to agree with craft - Monsoon is dress heaven.
