Sith, So just to clarify, you didn't attend a faith school where you learnt about religion and 'other normal things', as you claimed. You learn about religion at a mosque.
JKhan.. I took your advice and did read the lecture you provided the link for but it did not change my views. I am always eager to learn new things but the writings still offered no proof that the dreams predicted anything. I could say that I had a dream predicting that something will happen but if I say if after the event (as the lecture was written) who is to say that I actually had the dream except me.
I come from a religious family but will never be convinced of the existance of God, however, if others want to believe in one, then that is their choice. As long as they do not try to force their convictions upon me then I am quite happy to leave them to their delusions. The only thing that I have ever seen religions do over the years is cause death and that is all religions not just christians, muslims but all of them. People have fought over religion for so long that it makes me think that it is impossible for there to be a God at all. If he is supposed to be a loving God, as religions say that he is, how can he justify all the death that is caused in his name.
BagPussAA, You know he works in mysterious ways :)
Very Mysterious!! - Lets kill lots of the people who believe in me seems an odd way to behave to me!!! LOL
People have fought over religion because the dominant paradigm always designates the political power. How convenient it is for the powers that be to be able to say they have the knowledge of the will of a supreme ruler who must be obeyed by everyone.

Religion is fascism. Facism is the most primitive attempt by humans to enforce morality. As worthy as that goal might sound, facism is inevitably prone to giving power to those with the most corrupted sense of morality becoming like the school kid who bullies others about their bullying behaviour.

Facism holds that the ordinary person is not sophisticated enough to make decisions about morality and seeks to bring order through elimination of dissent and difference. Hitler expected to bring peace by elimination those who were different.

This is precisely what we see in the Abrahamic religions' cherished notion of Armageddon where the supreme ruler takes control and everyone who fails to fall on their face and whoreship Him will be murdered.
>Who believes that there is a god?

Nope. Not me.
If there was, all the crap that's happened to me and my family, wouldn't have happened. Surely?
^^Correct.
I often wonder if these questions bore God as much as they bore me.
Can you not answer my question, Khandro?
I'm always open to suggestions, but I can't really see an explanation for that one....
Khandro, if a question bores you, why not just look elsewhere as the rest of us do? No one is obliged to contribute to any particular thread.
I have lots of questions about "god", but have always been too afraid to ask them on here.
I do not believe in god, whatsoever...
Good "god" is this thread still in existence?
fliptheswitch, come over to R&S and ask them there. I, for one, would welcome you and do my best to answer your questions.

Starbuck, yes, but I have suggested Sith asks the Ed to move it to R&S.

How about it Sith?
I believe all gods were invented by human beings seeking to exercise power over others.
Question Author
naomi, in islam most faith schools are in a mosque so yes.
Question Author
lol, whats R&S?
Question Author
you mean religion and spirituality? how do i move it there?
I do.
Sith, it's clear you haven't the foggiest idea what a faith school is.

I've taken this bit from the link below, but there's more to read there if you can be bothered.

//A faith school is a British school teaching a GENERAL CURRICULUM but with a particular religious character or has formal links with a religious organisation. It is DISTINCT FROM AN INSTITUTION MAINLY OR WHOLLY TEACHING RELIGION and related subjects.//

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faith_school

A 'general curriculum' means Maths, English, Science. History, Geography, PE, Music, etc, etc, in fact all the subjects you were taught when you went to school from age around 5. As a convert at age 18, you have never attended a Muslim faith school.

If you want the thread moved to R&S, you need to email the Editor and ask him (click 'Contact Us' at the bottom of the page).
Naomi, Surely this question is in the correct Topic; Society and Culture, (with 300 posts!). Why should it be moved to Religeon and Spiritualty?
