If it’s just a local term of endearment like love, babs etc. it’s ok.
I wouldn’t call anyone ‘Doll’.
I’d be happier to be called Doll than Cock, as I was once by a Northern gentleman.

Just buying a cup of coffee from my local station cafe gets me called all of "my lovely", "sweetheart", "darling", and "my dear". The next male customer gets the same treatment. It's just her style and doesn't bother me a bit. A boring world if we all spoke the same.
