Letter in my local rag a few days ago castigating people that ''Always seemed to be out'' ''They need reporting'' etc.
FGS, people still go to work, still need to shop, still need to take care of others who CANT get out.
And yet...Im starting to feel a little paranoid about it all.
I need to shop (when I get the chance), I need to go to work and I need to visit my sick and housebound mother....

Too many curtain twitchers for my liking!

How’s the lambing going, APG?
The letter in the local rag to me is justified. From what i've seen in my area many are needlessly out. People driving to walk their dogs at the same location, touching the same gates to get in the field etc..
//How’s the lambing going, APG?//

Far too "busy" for that now. What with the rescue horses from the virtual Grand National to look after and all the books to read to the blind.
Zacs ok thanks the weather is being kind to us at the moment.
I'm not sure I have ever read a letter to my local paper and taken it personally but we are all different - those that can go out and indeed have to go out should feel no guilt about it.
Is that a tune you can play on your trumpet, Shoota.... ;-)
Jolly good. You take care of yourself being extremely vulnerable and all that.
// I am a curtain twitcher in as far as looking out for my neighbours but I wouldn't report them.//

yeah my Close of 30 or so OAPs are glorious curtain twitchers and gossipers
but being old - it is all about so and so who fell off his zimmer

I was asked why I walked to so and so's house - and I said "for a meal - I have no feeling in my fingers and I am terrified I will cut my fingers off if I chop vegetables"

yeah jesus fancy finding a part cooked finger in the ratatouille
I'm just sitting here...sniggering.
Not very lady like, but hey ho...
No Peter, you mistake my concern for my neighbours and theirs for me as gossiping - not the case. We all have a very good relationship.

I have lived here for well over forty years and no issues with anyone whether they are young or old, new to the area or long term residents.
I have moved this thread into the category "Society & Culture".
PP; why would your finger be only "part cooked"? Besides, cooked finger, mmmmmmm. Don't knock it if you ain't tried it :-)
Zacs for one minute there I thought you were being nice -never mind. Yes I am extremely vulnerable because I take medication that reduces my immune system. It does not stop me walking around the field checking on Ewes and using a mobile phone should one of them be in trouble to call someone. It doesn't stop me mucking out three horses a day or planting the garden. It does stop me shopping and socialising as I'm following Government guidelines. I hope this small explanation helps you understand how some people can manage their busy lives despite living with chronic serious health problems. I'm sorry if you and others seem to be that bored you can think of nothing better to do than (try) to bully and be sarcastic -sorry it will never work with me, I deal with much worse in real life so my suggestion is you try and channel your frustrations into doing something positive for the community , then come back and tell us all about it. Keep Safe.
omg so sassy
Forgive me. I had trouble reconciling ‘extremely vulnerable’ with someone who can help with lambing and muck out horses but now you explain, it’s obvious.
Just as a matter of interest, which condition is it which categorises you as such?
I don't feel guilty, as I am only out when necessary, but I do feel more conscious of it.
That's quite personal, Zacs. If someone has an auto immune disease, they can be highly vulnerable yet still perfectly fit and active.
Rheumatoid Arthritis controlled with a Biological that reduces T-cell response and thus lowers the immune system. It keeps me out of a wheelchair but makes me very vulnerable to infections. Luckily we live in a very remote area .
My son is fit and healthy, but has asthma, which is set off mostly by viruses, even a cold. Otherwise, touch wood, it is well controlled. He has been working in the garden etc, the main risk to him would be other people at the moment, so he is isolating, but still able to do heavy things.
Stay safe.
