An anti-racism campaign group is urging Britons to “take the knee” on their doorsteps for a socially distanced protest in solidarity with protesters in the US.

Stand Up to Racism (SUTR) has organised the protest for 6pm on Wednesday as part of a day of action against discrimination in response to the death of George Floyd in police custody in Minneapolis.

I won’t.

jim: "Resisting arrest is not a capital crime." - who said it was?
"So even if you had a point, which you don't, it's a point that is rotten to the core." - so the guy was not resisting at all then? and the copper just decided to kill him? right oh!
"Never mind that police are meant to be trained to deal with this in a way that doesn't leave people dead" - This is part of the training, that's how they restrain people who resist arrest, it's not generally fatal but it would not be necessary at all if the guy wasn't resisting arrest.
"Check your ignorance." - I think you need to look a bit closer to home there.
he didn't stop even when he was asked to because the bloke wasn't breathing....and as PP said once might be accidental, 7 times is not.
ken and co, they say "Bend the knee" in GOT, I never said that was the only source.
Game of Thrones, thank you. It's a bit like driving round New Zealand and wondering what LOTR meant on all the maps!
How long should those who wish to partake take the knee for? Nine minutes would seem appropriate.
Given what happened, isn't "bending the Knee" rather inappropriate anyway?
TTT
If memory serves it was Driving under the influence, No insurance refuse breathtest at the scene, Dangerous driving, resisting arrest. All committed whilst accompanied by his small lad who he put in danger.
Any one of those charges result in an appearance in a Criminal Court.
mozz: "Tora, how is laying on the floor, nearly motionless, moaning that you cannot breathe "resisting arrest"? It's police brutality, plain and simple. " - what led up to that?
white lives matter/Black lives matter
jim; "Of course they do. There is nothing about the Black Lives Matter movement that suggests otherwise." - yes but you are only allowed to say the latter. Saying the former gets TROB foaming about racism.
are you saying its ok to kill a suspect?
//what led up to that?//

Irrelevant. Whatever led up to it couldn't have justified Mr Floyd's murder.
Resisting arrest is not a capital offence -- that means that as soon as George Floyd ended up dead it seriously doesn't matter what led up to it. He should not have died. Plain and simple. It's disgusting to say it's his fault.
retro: "TTT
If memory serves it was Driving under the influence, No insurance refuse breathtest at the scene, Dangerous driving, resisting arrest. All committed whilst accompanied by his small lad who he put in danger. " - so he gets tasered and plod are the bad guys? right oh! I will never comprehend the TROB mentality.
The cop had his knee on Floyd's neck for nine minutes. I would estimate that even if you assumed resisting arrest, that excuse will have run out approximately 8.5 minutes before the cop finally got up. You don't put your neck on somebody's knee to contain them.
//It's disgusting to say it's his fault.//

In fairness, Tora hasn't done that. He's just scratching about for a reason to rationalise the cop's actions.
woof: "are you saying its ok to kill a suspect? " - no and you know I'm not, I'm saying that once someone goes down the road of resisting arrest then police have to use methods to restrain, sad if they end up being fatal but they would not be in that position without said resistance.
I won't be taking part. It's organised virtue signalling.
what led up to that?

TTT may have a point.

Drop litter and I would say the cop went a tad too far.

However...if it was something like stealing a fish from the fishmongers then the police have every right to asphyxiate you.
//so he gets tasered and plod are the bad guys? right oh!//
The coppers outnumbered him 4 to 1 IIRC. He was unarmed and yet the decided to taser him, and likely traumatise a three year old child who thinks that the plods had just killed his Daddy. It was heavy handed, to say the least.

//I will never comprehend the TROB mentality.//

And I'll never understand you using the same old lame *** insult against anyone who disagrees with you by showing a shread of human decency.
