Why Do I Believe In God ?
92 Answers
” Do you believe that God created all things ? If so, you’re not alone; many young people (and adults) share your view. But others say that life and the universe evolved ?? .without the help of a “Supreme Being. Why is that question important ? Because the Bible encourages you to use your MIND, “your POWER OF REASON .” That means your belief in God should not be based merely on the influence of others ,When I see a house, a cruise ship, or a car, I ask myself, ‘Who built this?’ It takes intelligent people to build a car, for example, because so many small components have to work just right for the whole thing to function. And if cars have to be designed by someone, then so do we humans. ??? then just ask yourself ,,did just full out of the sky ???? Matthew 5:3)

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.locusts, you state that your God is dynamic energy and beyond anything you (we) can think of, you then have the audacity to explain it. You would rather believe a book, written over a period of years by men, translated by men and rewritten by men, to suit their own slant on religion. Not content with that you, plus all the other theists, read this book, ignore the contradictions and select the parts that back up your point of view and present it as proof. I suggest you take your own advice and use your power of reason to see what the bible is, pure supposition.
The scientist says it is not scientific, the atheist says it is contradictory, the modernist clergy say it is legend, the fundamentalists make it appear ridiculous and void, and the people generally dismiss it as impractical for guidance in this hardheaded, realistic, wicked old world.
The scientist, the atheist, the modernist and fundamentalist clergy, and the people generally are wrong, for the Bible is the most scientific, consistent, factual, reasonable and practical book on earth!

Atheist@ I do have proper respect for scientific knowledge and achievements. However, many will agree that while science involves a way of knowing, it is not the only source of knowledge. The purpose of science is to describe phenomena in the natural world and to assist in answering how these phenomena occur.
Scientific knowledge gained through inquisitiveness, far from disproving the need for a God, has only served to confirm what a fantastically complex, intricate, and awe-inspiring world we live in. Many thinking people find it plausible to conclude that the physical laws and chemical reactions as well as DNA and the amazing diversity of life all point to a Creator.
True religion, in answering the question of why and in dealing with the purpose of life, also offers standards for values, morals, and ethics as well as guidance in life.
For a start Bible tells us that God prepared the earth especially with humans in mind. Isaiah 45:18 says regarding the earth: “God . . . did not create it simply for nothing [but] formed it even to be inhabited.” And he provided the earth with everything that people would need, not just to exist but to enjoy life to the full.

With this I concur, & further add, this is why so many of the really top scientists aren't, or weren't atheists. Not necessarily believing that the God of the Holy Bible was the only interpretation, but firmly believing in God none the less.
Einstein: "There is a harmony in the cosmos which I, with my limited human mind am able to recognise, yet there are people who say there is no God. But what makes me angry is that they quote me to support such views."
I can quote several other major scientific figures of the modern era including, Heisenberg, Max Planck & Schrodinger. In fact ironically, the further we explore nature, the more difficult it becomes to comprehend

Khandro 14:42 Thu 31st Dec 2020 Who did not create it simply for nothing ,but formed it to be inhabited:??
//// Perhaps what you mean is that you don’t understand how God, acts-or in this case, doesn’t seem to act, ?.Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death, That there is life after death,? Simply stated, , Anything as well ordered and perfectly, created as is our earth and universe must have a Maker , a master designer. Anything so orderly, so perfect, so precisely balanced, so majestic as this creation can only be the product of a Divine Order . There must be a Maker; there can be no other way .New English Bible {What is faith,? } Faith gives substance to our hopes, and makes us certain of realities we do not see.” That is why we are told that Christians must walk by faith and not by sight,
Bible encourages you to use your mind, emotion, influence of others pressure, However, thousands of persons who have heard arguments from both sides are not sure what to believe. Why, Because certain people of the participants have confused them. In what way,? of course,? not all clergymen openly embrace and advocate evolution. A large segment of them try to take a “middle of the road” approach to the issue. But true Christians to listen to Every argument and then he will meditate on what I've heard and then analyse it with his belief and his own mind will tell him what he will believe,

Khandro; Einstein was not a theist or deist. You're trotting out stuff which has been peddled many times but is not true.
Why do religious people seek to get science on their side? By definition they don't agree with the scientific method; although most of them would rather engineers designed and built their aeroplane, and that a real pilot flew their aeroplane (rather than a sky pilot).

Atheist; //Why do religious people seek to get science on their side?//
What a stupid question. Answer: Because the main thrust of atheist argument is that 'science disproves divinity', with its continual demand for 'scientific evidence'.
Highlighting the fact that many top scientists are not atheists demonstrates the paucity of your assertion.
& btw. Einstein was a Jew not a Christian.

"Many thinking people find it plausible to conclude that the physical laws and chemical reactions as well as DNA and the amazing diversity of life all point to a Creator."
If true, many thinking people would do well to think a little deeper. Science shows no need for a creator and describes how things gather complexity along the way thus obliviating any need for one. It was a reasonable guess for ancient societies lacking in knowledge, but with all that we have discovered in the interim, it is something we should dispense with.

Clearly not. One only has to stop blindly rejecting evolution and see how it explains complexity to know this.

Again, quoting passages from a misguided attempt to explain things, from people with little information on the world and reality, is no help in progressing any discussion. It merely serves to try to muddy genuine understanding.
My advice is to stick with science texts for understanding of our universe, and philosophy texts for morality discussions.
