well, I have a child who's known most of his life that people in love kiss each other, and that they won't necessarily be of different sexes; but he seems to have grown up heterosexual in spite of it all.

And, indeed, even this is too narrow a defence. People kiss all the time without necessarily being in love, be it because they are family, or close friends, or just young people exploring their sexuality for the first time. Or, even, because they're actors and it's their job to kiss sometimes.
