When Does An 'Ordinary' Muslim Become An Extremist?

We're often told that there is a difference between 'ordinary' Muslims and extremists, so ignoring those who call for violence and Islamic domination as they march in support of Palestine, but thinking only of the Muslim school children and their parents and supporters who are making news by intimidating students into adopting the hijab, to observe Islamic fasting rituals, and to withdraw from some school activities because they are considered 'haram';   the student who is battling her school in court (at the taxpayers' expense) for the 'right' to pray during school hours, the protestors outside schools, causing one to close early in order to protect staff and pupils, and those who are threatening teachers to the extent that they fear travelling on public transport, one of whom is still, after a very long time, in hiding.   The people who are responsible for all of this carry on their regular everyday lives living among us.  Are they 'ordinary' Muslims - or are they extremists?

We happen to agree on this thread.

Khandro - //

And talking of teams; you and andy-hughes make a fine one !

🙄 //

Oh dear, did i touch a nerve?

Khandro - // Please explain how you can talk about Islamic extremism without talking about the crimes they commit?  //

As I have pointed out several times, the entire premise of the question is faulty.

How can any of us know what turns anyone into an extremist of any sort?

It's unanserable, which is why naomi is reduced to moaning about why no-one has actually answered her question, and she has done so more than one.

It is unanswerable - and well over four-hundred posts have proved that, if nothing else.

Where in her OP did Naomi mention the crimes they commit. We all know about the crimes they commit, but not all moslems are committing these crimes or are ever likely to.

It appears that Andy and I posted simultaneously.  Of course as a team we planned that!!  But I do agree with him.  And no you didn't touch any nerves.  I just think your acting stupidly.  That doesn't affect me in any way.

Countrylover - // And no you didn't touch any nerves. //

I think it was me who touched a nerve with Khandro, judging by his fourth-form girls-changing-room style of response.

Sorry Andy. I got that wrong and sorry khandro for that mistake.

andy-hughes

Roy - // It's the bit where you said // Countrylover suggests he was already an extremist and is backed up by mr hughes //

It's just above this, if you raise your eyes and read it.

No it isn't.

Roy - As I always do, I copied and pasted the appropriate section of your post in my answer.

You can scroll back and see that, or scroll a little further to your post that I copied it from.

I am unable to assist you further than that.

roy - // Utterly bizarre. I suggested he was seen as a normal Muslim until he made the knife attack. Countrylover suggests he was already an extremist and is backed up by mr hughes //

Now, where in that does it say I said you said anything at all?

Take your time.

Roy, I am on my mobile, so I don't have C and P facilities.

Tomorrow, when I have time,  I will respond.

Andy, perhaps Roy could tell you where you backed me up by giving the time of your posting.

Fair enough, I will look onto it tomorrow when I can show evidence to back up my point.

Sleep well.

Regardless of the OP, this thread has proved one thing if nothing else. There is not one post thats been deleted that normally would be on any other thread. That tells me that most mods don't bother deleting petty tit for tat or delete an answer just because they don't like your reply or you, or in some way try to protect their favorite poster. Example. We've been told many times not to post music videos in the news section, this happened about 2 weeks back, I asked why they had been allowed to stay? guess what. My post was deleted and the videos stayed. Getting back to petty deleting, and deleting for their own entertainment and spite, leaves only 2 moderators who could be doing this?

Lottie, you posted this

Countrylover

How do you know he was an ordinary Moslem.  I would presume he was an extremist already.  You can't judge all moslems by a small   percentage,

Now if I had posted that he was presumably an extremist already, andy hughes would have gone on about my prejudices. Instead he posted

andy-hughes

Countrylover - Some of us, or rather them, have that gift it seems.

He will deny it now but how come he didn't attack you for your 'he was probably a extremist already'?

Tacit support?

🥱

Back to the question at hand. Some people are better at demonstrating how stupid it is to believe stupid things.

Moslom or Muslim?

Moslom or Muslim?
