Both Jews and Muslims lop bits off their young male children, not for medical reasons, but because their religions demand it, so a hypothetical question. If a case were brought before the European Court of Human Rights claiming that this practice is in violation of a human being's right to decide what happens to his body, what do you think the outcome would be?

lol, ok, thats cool, i agree with some things there, however yes, the rural practice in africa may be interpreted by islamic teachings, but many things can be interpreted in wrong ways. i have never heard of, seen or read of female circumcision apart from here, so i do not know really if it is real or what, so i am just going to take your word for it. You said that it is basically mutilation, yes it is if it goes against your will however there may be some who choose it, i don't know. it could be like that foot binding thing in china, some people chose it a lot did not...but to be honest, i do not know.
Sith, Female circumcision is not a choice for these little girls, they have no idea what is going to be done to them until they feel the blade!

"i have never heard of, seen or read of female circumcision apart from here, so i do not know really if it is real or what, so i am just going to take your word for it."

So you aren't actually that bothered to just type it into google and have a look for yourself?

http://en.wikipedia.o...le_genital_mutilation there you go, ive saved you the trouble!
ok, yes, i read it, but out of the many people that have it done, there may be even a few percent that choose it. as i have said i do not agree with it and have never read it in the quran, hadith, sunnah or any islamic teachings and have never even heard of it apart from here.

about not typing it in, yes, i have not had the time because ive been occupied with other threads :)
Yes, the practice is a violation. As for the outcome, well, probably nothing.
sith123, thats the problem isnt it, try getting your head out of that silly book and have a look around you and see what is really happening in the world.

"2 hands working will achieve far more than a million hands clasped in prayer"

and isnt that the truth!!!

Sith, how can you claim to be a Muslim when you know so little about Islam? Are you playing at it?
You have to bring a case against somebody. Against whom ? Presumably the parents. Not good for family relationships.
Or do you try bringing a case against the Chief Rabbi ? He had absolutely nothing to do with it ( he would say) since he knows neither you nor your parents.
Against the Mohel ? He'd say he was doing a job which is not illegal, and at the request of the baby's parents.
I am much more interested in preventing the mutilation of little girls. After all, circumcision does not cripple a man, whereas female mutilation is desperately destructive of the health and well-being of women. Thousands of them. For a start, the UK should have nurses at all ports and airports to inspect little girls coming back from "Holidays" in Africa, and this should be publicised, so parents know they will be found out and prosecuted, and, if possible, jailed if they mutilate little girls and ruin their bodies for their whole lives.
i do know what is happening in the world, just because im a muslim does not mean i do not care for the world, it actually means i try to look after it more as that is what i believe.

Naomi, i know about islam, however i may not be able to explain it as good here as its hard to get my point across, however i am a muslim, i know about islam and no, i am not playing at it.

Sith, Well it's just an observation, but you don't give the impression that you know much about it.
yes, i admit not as much as others, but im not a scholar or an expert but a normal person who is just sharing my views like everyone else here, religious or not.
Question Author
Sith, I'll offer you a friendly word of advice if I may. Where the unknown is concerned, no one in this world knows any more about it than you do. There are no scholars or experts. Think for yourself!
"There are no scholars or experts. Think for yourself! "

Exactly!!
Even MORE IMPORTANT how about female circumcision? So a female will never experience the the joy of having a sexual relationship whilst the male can enjoy it knowing full well that a female would never instigate it.
daisynonna, you're late, ive already explained what i think of that.
Question Author
Sith, why do I get the distinct impression that you're ignoring my last post?
oh, ok, there is a lot of people who know more about it than me
Question Author
No, there isn't. They know what the Koran says, but they're teaching you what they BELIEVE. As far as death, or the possibility of the existence of a creator God is concerned, they know no more than anyone else on this planet. Really, they don't.
if you dont know about something, you cant say it doesnt exist though.
Question Author
No - and you can't say it does either.
exactly, so if you dont know if it exists or not you go straight to believing it doesnt?
