Ever thought what would happen if the Muslims decided to call for Jihad on the streets of Belfast?
I do.
They wouldn't dare do it a second time.

I dread to think of the backlash from an alliance of UDA, U.V.F, and I.R.A, as well as EDL, if the Muslims push too far.
I think that if the politicians don't act soon, others will, and there will be no stopping them.
I truly hope you are right.
Could do with that approach in London Theland, but to-day the Islamic Human Rights Commission based in Wembley called for more protection for their people - I kid thee not.
Is it just the pushy muslims likely to be targeted Theland, by this unholy alliance of UVF and IRA ( I think the moon might shine blue before those 2 find common cause mind you ), and the EDL, or is it all Muslims?
Question Author
I have no inside story, apart from a well appointed Orangeman, who said they watch carefully in Belfast, and don't allow Muslims to form communities.

This is third or fourth hand info.

I think the anti fascist groups should be protesting against the JIFs rather than the EDL, who ARE. Protesting against fascism, Islamo Fascism.
@Theland OK, so the idea of an alliance is just sort of hearsay - speculation - which is fair enough.

I am still somewhat curious though - who would be the targets? All Muslims? Or just the "JIFs"?

And what do you think is meant by that phrase that you use - that "muslims are prevented from forming communities"? You see this as a positive thing?

I would agree with you that militant Islamism needs to be stood up, countered, rebutted and resisted. I think more effort needs to be done to combat radicalism, both within and without the muslim community. But demonising all muslims over the actions of their extremists is not a development to be welcomed, for ideological and purely pragmatic reasons.
Question Author
Once the irrational violence begins, all Muslims would probably be targets. Wrong wrong wrong but to be expected when things get out of control.
So the tone of your last post sort of suggests that you anticipate that the "JIFs " would be the target of pre-emptive or revenge attacks.

Next question then - how does one distinguish between a JIF and an inoffensive muslim?

I am glad to see that you think that violence against the wider muslim community would be very wrong, but unlike you I do not think it is to be expected. Nor should we - that kind of legitimises such violent counter-reaction, don't you think?

And this is to the heart of why people protest EDL. Theirs seems a voice full of inchoate anger, poorly expressed. It is hard not to see them as anything other than a grouping of football hooligans and BNP - those who would welcome violent and direct action.

It is perfectly acceptable to stand up against militant fascism AND the EDL. This is not a binary question, an "either-or" issue. It is a question of rationality standing up against the irrationality of radical islam just as much as the expressions of violent resistance that is represented by the EDL....
Northern Ireland has a fine tradition of murdering people simply because they are of,or associate with others of, the wrong branch of Christianity so killing any Muslim should come easily
Question Author
Terrorist violence, and "anti terrorist " violence is just bloody anarchy, and the innocents suffer as usual. I have an opinion but do not condone ANY violence. I anticipate that eventually it WILL happen unless the politicians stop kow towing to the JIFs.
So more to the point then, Theland - which politicians, and exactly how are they "kowtowing to the JIFs"? What, precisely, do you want the politicians to do?
Question Author
Read "Londonistan" by Melanie Philips.
In order to understand specifically exactly what it is you wish some undefined politicians to do, I have to read a book by Mad Mel, that polemicist and supposed journalist?

That hardly seems fair does it? Your point can only be understood by reading a book?

Which politicians are kowtowing, Theland? What policies do you wish them to ponder? What legislation would you have them enact? You feel strongly enough to post on the topic - you surely must be able to articulate your points without requiring your audience to read the ranty Melanie Phillips?
Melanie Philips eh? Well there's a sane balanced view, for certain, with perfectly genuine research , study, and argument worthy of Macaulay, Trevelyan , C V Wedgwood or Margaret Mead . No Daily Mail message there then !

And what do you want our politicians to do? Have high police and ' secret service' tracing, surveillance and monitoring? Jail offenders for 30 years or more ? What?
Theland, a bit of light on the horizon.

"They don't allow Muslims to form communities" A bucket of paint was thrown over the Islamic Community centre just the other day. Is that what the Orangeman meant?
With its history of intolerance, violence and bigotry, I don't think Northern Ireland could be seen as any sort of role model, and the seamless link made between Muslims and jihadists in the OP is both provocative and divisive.
Khandro,// the seamless link made between Muslims and jihadists in the OP is both provocative and divisive.//

Actually, I think Theland clarified that in his post at 21:09 Fri 07th Jun 2013.
