Is Anyone Here "between" Religions?

I was asked the other day what religion i am and i had to pause because i was "between" religions so was temporarily religionless.

So far i've tried christianity, judaisam, buddism and islam but i was left baffled, confused, empty and dismayed by the hypocritical nature of these paths.

I still haven't found what i'm looking for in a religion which is the truth. I've had a look at scientology but this appears to be a far out cult.

At the moment i am between religions, yes i believe that we were created by god, gods or even aliens and i want and demand the truth.

What can i do and where do i search for the truth? Can anyone here hand on heart recommend a religion to me as the emptiness and the fact that i could be missing out on enlightenment is killing me.

zombozo It can't be done ! There are estimated 10,000 religions/cults/beliefs in the world , all claiming to be 'the truth ' . Even if one was 'the truth, whatever that is ' 9,999 ' are wrong . So far you have tried 6 ! If you need a God just look at the wonders around . Listen to beautiful music. That is where you will find what you are looking for . not in the nonsense of religion, as you have already found out.

People who are gardening don't usually also exert a control over others that has led (albeit perhaps indirectly) to so much death, suffering and corruption.

Khandro, you can be very silly at times. Gardening whether you like it, approve of it or believe in it is a real thing based on concrete things (sometime a little less hard landscaping would be a good thing).Even someone who doesn't 'believe' in gardening will aknowledge it's existence. The great thing about gardners is that they will give you flowers or tomatoes out of generosity. Religion always has strings attached and they don't have runner beans climbing up them.

You may find this difficult to accommodate, but religion to many is of a fundamental importance within their lives, why should that not be, and why are you so concerned about accepting that?
Calling me 'silly' seems to show lack of dialogue. Is //exert[ing] a control over others// an exclusive preserve of some who claim to represent religion, - secular politics seem to have done quite well at this too, or has this escaped your notice?

Khandro, I'm sure you don't need me to exlain why your argument is silly. As for control, there is no need for religious rules in a democratic secular society.

I'm mainly trying to illustrate the fallacy of comparing people who criticise religion to those who criticise gardening.

I also told him that the answers he seeks aren’t available. I don’t think that is ‘asserting’ my irreligious beliefs. It’s the truth – unless you know differently, in which case I welcome the evidence.

And if people here do assert their irreligious beliefs, what’s wrong with that?

I’m not telling anyone what to think – and I wouldn’t tell anyone to give up gardening – unless it proved detrimental to their well-being.

As for my studies, I’m not about to provide you with my CV, so make of it what you will.

Jim, I can’t see the correlation between religion and gardening either. Religion is hardly a hobby.

Zombozo. You are seeking that which doesn't exist. All religions are designed to instill fear of disobedience and demand exclusive following. When you've gone through another few hundred and realise this, you might rethink your belief that you were created by a God or Alien, and realise you are a product of evolution.

I still think Zombozo will come back to us after finding the "ONE TRUE" religion and will go to lengths to explain what we must do to follow his particular brand of God worshipping.
