The question arose from something Khandro said.

Khandro has declined to elaborate, but since he speaks of other people misunderstanding, I assume that he does understand. I wondered, therefore, if others might be more forthcoming in sharing their thoughts on what God is, or might be – rather than what they think he can do for them on a personal level.

But seriously...god is a word used to describe an imaginary being with the power to allow one to do things that are morally and socially unacceptable.
