I would ask please, if the following questions were answered, the best that you can, in the order that they are posted. Thanks.

1) God, has always been there, before anything else, God was there, so how long was he there in solitary before he decided to create the Universe and us?

2) Why did God create us, Humans?

cassa, your right, inasmuch in the Bible, God sas 'you shall worship no other Gods before me' Plural.
Oh, but it's ok to worship them later in the day, then.
Hi Lonnie, lovely to see you here.

To answer your questions, the God you imagine isn't there and never has been.
naomi; I would extend that to, the God most people imagine isn't there, but that isn't the same as the atheist's, "There is no God".
Khandro, so what is ‘God’ – in your opinion?
I still think the first reply to this thread, by Kathyan said everything that needed to be said.
Mikey, others think differently.
naomi; Please see my above post at 10:22 Sun.
Khandro, that's a cop out.
So, naomi, St Thomas Aquinas is a "cop out", well bless my soul!
Khandro, //well bless my soul! //

Who, or what, is going to do that? ;o)
n. I'd be honoured if you would :0)

Haaa! I can make the right noises, Khandro, but like anyone else who makes the right noises I doubt they would have any effect. :o)

(You weren't by any chance in Amsterdam a couple of weeks ago, were you?).
If we accept that God 'Made Heaven and Earth' then he also made 'time' . So Time did not exist before he made it! There can not have been any 'before'.
The same argument exists in science, just substitute 'before the Big Bang' for before the creation !
Time was created at the Big Bang so there can be no 'before ' !
Eddie, //Time was created at the Big Bang so there can be no 'before ' ! //

But then you have to consider the question of what caused the "Big Bang", don't you?
In one sense at least, Aquinas's "first cause" argument isn't all that bad. It's just that, having got to the "first cause", why does he insist on calling said first cause "God", with all of the religious and moral baggage that it therefore entails?

The Universe could just as easily be self-causing on its own, without needing some sort of conscious entity to make it so.
We can no more know what caused the Big Bang than we can know what caused God to create the universe.
Precisely Eddie.
