“There is one very serious defect to my mind in Christ's moral character, and that is that He believed in hell. I do not myself feel that any person who is really profoundly humane can believe in everlasting punishment''

Can anyone disagree?
The idea of been tortured forever is sick beyond belief.
If there's one thing (actually there are many) that turns me off from Christianity, its this idea that unbelievers will be tortured beyond belief for not believing in the God of love.
(Anyone else here see the contradiction)??

Why the hell do you think that v_e - do you think you know me or something ??? I can assure you I WOULD NOT ...

Theland,
On Monday evening, (22:31), naomi asked a reasonable question,
//Theland, when are you expecting the Nile to dry up and Egypt to be laid barren?//
(as per the prophecies of *THREE* Biblical Prophets...Isaiah,Ezekiel & Zechariah)

You replied
//Here we go. Pick one item and pick holes in it.
Of course, never study the prophets and compare them to contemporary events.
That would be too easy eh?//

Just wondering, if three prophets got it wrong, then its not one hole, but three (out of many more, but we will stay with this for the time being)
Can you actually answer Naomi's question as to when you actually expect the Nile to dry up and Egypt to be laid barren?
And just how is asking a perfectly reasonable question 'picking holes'?

//Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect//….1 Peter 3:15

The above quote Theland (1 Peter 3:15) is just in case you havnt read it ;-)
I like to educate where possible...
Egypt and the Nile? I don't know.
Obviously still in the future.
Theland - // Egypt and the Nile? I don't know.
Obviously still in the future. //

On the one hand you are rude and patronising, and on the other, you attempt pointless sarcasm.

I honestly think it's a miracle that anyone on here maintains the patience to even attempt to debate with you - the experience is akin to plaiting fog.
Thanks Andy. Feel better now?
Theland - I always feel better, because I don't spend my days shaking my head and wringing my hands over the shortcomings of the people I share the planet with.
Theland, //Egypt and the Nile? I don't know.
Obviously still in the future. //

But the one that came straight from the horse's mouth can't possibly happen in the future can it .... obviously. What about that one?
What about the prophecies in thenO T that all came true?
Theland, we've been down that road before. What about the one that came straight from the horse's mouth that didn't come true?
There is a lot of future to live.

//There is a lot of future to live.//
In Ezekiel 26 God states that Nebuchadnezzar would conquer, sack, and completely destroy the city of Tyre and that Tyre's land would never be built upon again.
Since Nebuchadnezzar is now dead, and Tyre is clearly visible on Google maps/streetview, one can only conclude that this is a failed prophecy!
No future needed...ITS A FAILED PROPHECY.

What about the ones that didn't? (like the one above?)
Theland, //There is a lot of future to live. //

Not for those involved in that prophecy. They've been dead for 2000 plus years.

Naomi, as a teenage Christian, I remember questioning *THAT* particular prophecy...the one about jesus returning in the time of his generation.. and the answers that I got verged on the ridiculous. Numerous interpretations of what exactly 'generation' meant etc?
The obvious explanation (it was wrong) was ignored...
Question Author
It led me on to other Biblical prophecies....and they were also wrong.
Theland, I was big time into this stuff, read all the books etc.
Its all a croc of cra…
Make enough statements, and sure enough, SOME of them will come true.
The OT prophecies describe accurately the history of Israel right up to modern times.
The prophecies also describe the relentless march towards globalism, which is happening now.
// When we arrive at church, the rosary is being said, and in it is the phrase "Save is from the fires of hell …" which always strikes me as odd -//

blimey (or crikey as my fave Nigh often says) it strikes me as being odd as well - very odd
a decade of the rosary is a string of ten Hail Marys
( you know Hail Mary full of grace the lord is with thee etc etc)
and nowhere in my bible is there a bit

"and if you dont agree to any of this Mary - you will burn in the fires of hell ! dja get that - girlie?(*) - now this is Gabriel or HHab-ree-el or whatever my damned name is today, signing off !"
