Called Christmas?
Even as a young evangelical, I never understood why Christians, of whatever flavour, celebrated what is essentialy a mid-winter festival that has jack to do with Jesus?
Nowhere in the Bible is it commanded to celebrate December 25th as the birth of Jesus.
*ALL* Christmas traditions, from a tree to ivy & miseltoe to xmas pudding etc, ALL
have their roots in pre-christian religion revolving around the seasons of the year and nature worship.

In fact, about all they know is that it is supposed to commemorate the resurrection of Christ Jesus. They do not know the answers to vital questions such as: Where did the name “Easter” come from? How did Easter get started? What is the meaning of Easter’s curious customs? Above all, what does the Bible disclose about the Easter festival?
The word “Easter” appears in the King James Bible at Acts 12:4; this, however, is an error of the translators. The original Bible word pascha simply means “passover,” and that is the way modern translations render it. So Easter is not really mentioned in the original Greek of the Christian Scriptures.
But are true Christians commanded to commemorate some event concerning Christ? Jesus told his followers to remember his death, which occurred on Nisan 14, A.D. 33. To remember his Death, not his resurrection! Sometimes Nisan 14 does correspond with your Easter but this is pure coincidence as Nisan 14 is not a fixed date. True Christians do not celebrate any of the popular celebrations because their origin is pagan. Just shows that you do not understand the Bible.

Goodlife I have a friend who's parents like you are brainwashed by the teachings of the JWs, she tells of tales going back to school after the Christmas holidays , she couldn't join in the excited chatter of the other kids as we all know Christmas is something you don't celebrate ,same as birthdays , only anniversaries, she's fortunate she still has a relationship with both parents, her sister has not, my friend has no children, never wanted any because she felt her parents wouldn't recognise their grandkids because she married 'out', her sister has 4 kids, they never see their grandparents because she's divorced after also marrying 'out' what kind of religion does that to a family????, their parents refused to go to their weddings as well
