And I could never ever justify that ^^^^^^^^
Well, I'll tell ya, Tonyav, hell to me is peeking in here the odd time and seeing the usual people gibbering, jabbering, and gabbering about the same old topics. I guess that every post puts a shilling into the AB meter, but heavens knows why they persist.
Yep, know what you mean, sanmac ( the never ending circle ).
sanmac, if it's hellish stop peeking.
C'mon, vulcan, to hell with that notion. You're not being confrontational and stoking the fires are you?:) Anyway, right now it's supper time and I'm off for pizza and soup...Very posh for a Saturday evening.
Saturday evening ! wot. It's very early Sunday morning here ( ya posh git ) ;-)
// Since Jesus and God both knew the outcome in advance, I fail to see any 'sacrifice'.//

I love the idea of 'andies mind is completely blank about this' ( yeah right) .
and someone says - read the bible
and blanker says - no I cant do that, because a) my mind wouldnt be blank then and b) it is written by those that are 'for' and not against ever
so nope no bible

Jesus knowledge of the future - your mind andie must blank about the Agony in the Garden. You know where Jesus looks at a muck heap and says 'my god this is a pile of poo innit? ' (my translation)

[At the conclusion of the narrative, Jesus accepts that the hour has come for him to be betrayed.] - which doesnt carry the idea of certainty to me - dont look at me like that, andie I just read the original documents and draw reasonable conclusions from them. Ah me

Gods knowledge of the future - Thomas aquinas said it was like god sitting on a hill top ( well it was 1280 for chrissakes, so no mobiles or taxis then), and the past was to his left sort of - - and the future stretched out
commentators say it was an interesting view of time being a linear dimension - 7 centuries before the rest

a fort for sunday - have a good day boys and girls
nailit: What's Hell like? - you should know, you perpetually sound like you're in it!

//He is anything but a despicable tyrant. He is pure love.//
Its almost as if you have read (some) of the Bible with rose tinted glasses...like I used to do!

I can assure you Khandro that I have my ups and downs like all folk, but nope. Your God is not yet having me writhing in unimaginable agony for eternity for not believing the same things as you.
Theres always tomorrow though...

As a Fundie that believed in this, it emotionally disturbed me (as a teenager) to believe that my beloved grandmother died without Jesus,
and was now being burnt in hell by the God that I was supposed to love...
And then I lost my dad as well.

When people make fun of this stuff or ask why do I care what people believe...this is why!
It harms peoples psyche's. It causes pain.

And then I lost my mum and the religious offer condolences while at the same time believing that she is now been tortured in hell.
Weird...
One day you, we all, will understand, as God wipes away every tear, God always does what is right. He can do no other.
And he’s the bloke who’s sending people to hell. What utter garbage, theland.
And you, a created being, created by the author and originator of morality, consider yourself qualified to pass judgement on the Absolute Authority On Morality.
It doesn't work.

//One day you, we all, will understand, as God wipes away every tear//
Is he going to wipe my memory as well?
Some early church fathers believed that those in heaven will see the suffering of the damned in hell and praise God all the more.

Today we call such people psychopaths.
It doesn’t work for you theland because your moral compass is no more accurate than his.
Hell exists; I've seen people living in it.
It’s right at the eastern end of the M62.

Lets have a look at your own scriptures (Romans 9)
For Scripture says to Pharaoh: “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” 18 Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden.
19 One of you will say to me: “Then why does God still blame us? For who is able to resist his will?” 20 But who are you, a human being, to talk back to God? “Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it, ‘Why did you make me like this?’”[h] 21 Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for special purposes and some for common use?

According to that ^^ God hardens peoples hearts so that they CAN'T believe...and then condemns them for not believing?? Really??
Also Paul's comparison between men and clay is artificial.
Clay is not sentient. A human feels pain, clay doesnt.

Go on. Compare my mum to a piece of clay and say that god will wipe away my tears over her eternal suffering should I ever subscribe to your belief system and be 'saved' and go to heaven.
