This does beg the question whether, based on your understanding of it all: Will the people in this thread who are 'not saved' - let's assume non believers living their lives by the law of the land - be dealt with exactly the same as those carrying out and responsible for the atrocities in Ukraine when it comes to being saved or not? And why?

Since the war in Ukraine has been introduced here and Goodlife seems to think that atheism is somehow responsible for that, it might interest him to know that practically every major charity working across the globe to relieve the suffering of humanity is secular. The only one of any great note that is religion-based is the Salvation Army - and, like the rest, unselective in their altruism, they do a magnificent job - but they're not Jehovah's Witnesses.
naomi: I shall, with generosity, put you assertions down as ignorance rather than overt lies:

Khandro, which bit of 'major charities' didn't you understand - or should I put your abject rudeness down to ignorance? Our local church does a lot - lots of organisations of all flavours do a lot - but they're not the Red Cross or Oxfam or Unicef or Medicine Sans Frontiers!
Goodlife, your imagination is running riot again.

The point is, khandro, despite all the criticism - and worse - you and your cohorts aim at atheists, all of these organisations are secular. Furthermore, you have known me for years and you have never known me to lie - and yet in defence of religion you have no hesitation in insulting me. If that’s what religion does to you, you should be worried. I would much rather be me.
naomi: I retracted the 'lie' allegation, (on two threads as it happens).
But you know very well that giving away money is not what religions DO. By saying they don't, is accusing them of not doing something which isn't in their remit to do in the first place, & I think you only said so in an attempt to unfairly put religion in a bad light.
So if you were not lying, you were at least being disingenuous.

It seems to me that most religions do the opposite, i.e. they collect money. (I don't think that Quakers do.) Certainly the christian ones all emm to do it; obscene examples are the Wealth of the Vatican, and that of the US televangelists.
