or just the bits they want to?

So here are some questions for the christians on here...

1) If I asked you to give me your tv, would you? According to jesus, not only would you give me the tv, but you would gladly throw in the dvd player as well (matthew 5:40)

2) Luke 10:19 has Jesus telling his followers that they can walk on snakes and scorpions and not be harmed. Now this, I would REALLY like to see. Not that I want to test God, just see the credentials of a TRUE believer.

3) Have you got a bank account? according to Matthew 6;19,20 you shouldnt

4) have you sold everything that you own and given it to the poor (Luke 12:33)

5)you havn't made any plans for the future have you...holidays etc? If you have you are disobeying Jesus (Matthew 6:34)

6) If someone hits you, would you invite them to do it again (Mattew 5:39)

7) If someone broke into your home and stole all of your belongings, you wouldnt phone the police and try to get them back would you? That would be against the teachings of Jesus (Luke 6:30)

8) Do you teach your children to live by such bizzare standards?

Well, in for a penny, perogative no such word, it's prerogative.

Why is it so wrong to take literally what people have written in good faith ?
I didn't ignore the rest, I answered all of it by answering question 8, if you were wanting questions 1-7 answered individually why add question 8 where someone could answer all of them by answering one question?

Dang your young, usually get to like 60+ before you start bothering with religion. Should start acting your age also and stop being drawn into pointless arguments ;o)
And you asked me "Why Not?" so I told you.
Posting anything religious is going to start a heated debate. Everyone interpretates the bible in their own way regarding their beliefs. You may not agree with their answers but you have to respect others opinions. After all that is what a good debate is all about.

Whiffey..on the spelling wagon again (because he aint got an answer)
Hyperion...come back when you got an answer (I ignore the rest???)
Hey Boy , listen to me, I dont need to be 60+, I read and studied the bible and a lot more than you know about.

yet
Some of us don't even bother interpreting the Bible as it was written so many years after the events, it's bound to be distorted. Remember that old saying about " Send re-inforcements - we're going to advance " and when passed on down the line it ended up as "Send three and four pence, we're going to a dance"
Did Caesar invade Britain around 55BC ?

Yes, of course, but who says so ?
The Bible isn't just a one liner is it? Ok so Jesus lived ( yes but who said so) and Caesar made his invasion etc but no-one writing stories the thickness of the Bible are just stating one line facts, they are however having to recall many issues. For example no one has recalled in detail what was said and done during invasion. As for the second coming of Jesus......anyone seen him or have we missed the event or is he on Earth at present....who knows but you could write a book on it if you wanted but it wouldn't be factual.
Question Author
whiffey..you ask one question (that any historian can answer easily) in the belief that , that negates my original questions. you got no answers then?????/
I don't have to have answers, this is not an interrogation centre.

Which is my question that an historian could answer so simply ? And who is that historian, and based on which evidence.
whiffey stinks of poo
whiffey stands his / her ground and is not swayed oe way or the other in the face of what appears to be aggressive posts.
That is to be applauded. It demonstrates integrity, and also entertains the other posters by refusing to join the consensus view on here, which would result in no debate whatsoever.
Question Author
Theland, you appear to have an ally in whiff...he avoids the questions as well.
It also appears to have escaped your attention that whiff is the one been aggresive (calling me tw@t etc) if I retalliate in kind can you blame me? If you think that demonstrates integrity, then you have gone down in my estimation.
Wizard, you know my views. I do not condone deliberate insults, although a passionate robust response may be misinterpreted as such.
Something I have been guilty of myself on occasion.
But no, it is within our power to refrain from insulting language, and we should not engage in it.
The most in yer face Xtian I know of is Cliff Richard who recently bought a vinyard and ,regularily entertains those other millionaire xtians Tony and Cherie. If the're not worried about the starving kids in the world it must be OK to ignore them.
Now now children.
Shake hands and say you're sorry.
