Good afternoon Chakka Where have you been?
Yes, of course I know about Occam's Razor - but I don't think it can be relied upon in every instance. I've never been keen on it - to me it's often a lazy way to explain that which we can't be bothered to investigate further. One of those things where we can say 'ok, that's that', and never think of the subject again.
In this case, I don't believe the ancients imagined their gods, or their flying machines, or the terrifying weapons the gods used. These ideas had to come from somewhere more than ancient imagination. In my opinion, it's more exotic and bizarre to consider that ancient man, with his very limited knowledge, invented these beings, and his religious notions. I think he recorded, both in text and in his artwork, precisely what he saw - or precisely what he thought he saw - and to me this is the simplest explanation. In fact I think the truth is staring us in the face, and we're ignoring it. If there is a subject that would interest me more, I've yet to discover it.
The quiz should be ready at the end of this week, shouldn't it? Now, that's a mystery that needs solving!!
