Since Naomi will not give me the ****ing key I have decided to follow Jesus and be a Christian just like Theland. I am ashamed of my past history here so I'm going to devote the time I used to spend on ab to reading the Bible. No question really because I no longer care about what people think. I'll get all my answers from God from now on thank you.

I don't know if anyone is there at the moment, but whenever you appear, consider this. Do you ever feel that you're living on a different planet to the rest of humanity? I've had a discussion on AB, and although I've put my point across very clearly, no one seems to understand what I'm saying. Now, Is that because they can't understand, or is it because they don't want to understand since the subject matter goes against their beliefs - or is it that they just like being awkward? Answers on a postcard please to Naomi, Planet Zog.

I'm off to polish my spaceship. :o)
Rushes in with unbrushed hair and flustered face

Hello, hello, hello!

Sorry I'm late peeps.... Just had one of those weeks, knackering and was still doing the grumpy mood thing and my nan did always say that if I couldn't say anything nice I shouldn't say anything and I couldn't think of anything nice!!

Anyway, this is a flying 'hello, how are you? What's the gossip? How's work going for everyone? Love to all the family' type post as my brain is still a bit too boggy to cope with the intelligent stuff and frankly it'd be much easier just to leave me in the cellar with the wine for company and the occasional odd obligation to make a witty comment!

I'd also like to congratulate Naomi on trying to pimp me out this week, I'm very impressed! ;0P
Sorry to have not posted, but the work is very tiring and I've been zonked out in the garden and then having early nights.
Thank goodness for the overtime ban, the enforced rest is most welcome.
Zonked out in the garden? It's a horrible day here.

China, have you read The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak? If you have, let me know what you thought of it. I'd like to know what others thought. I've just finished it. Thought-provoking, funny, sad - but quite odd. Theland, I think you would enjoy it very much.

ps. I tried, China - but no sale completed, so no point in brushing your hair or putting your make-up on........yet!
Now what on earth makes you think I'd bother doiing that anyway Naomi my sweet?! Besides I'm dubious about anyone that would buy me... Unless I was on a buy one, get one free deal of course!

I've not read it no, what's it about? Give me a brief synopsis and I'll see if I fancy a trip to the library!

Hello Lunar and Theland too... Nice to see you all.
I've just splashed out 25 on a few DVD's so tonight I'm going to see if I can remember how to work that pesky machine, and sip a few wines. I hope!
Too groggy to get into Bible references, but believe me, it is more than mere coincidence that events in the Middle East are congruent with what is predicted in the Bible.
For example, the time given for the end of Jerusalem being trampled down by the Gentiles is given from the time that the order went out to rebuild the gates of Jerusalem, after the Jews were held in Babylonian captivity.
The time predicted ends in 1967 when Jerusalem was finally united after the !967 war. Uncanny or what?
By the way, I do not wax my eyebrows, or tattoo them.
Should I?
A duck walks into the job centre and asks the guy to help get him a job.
"Bloody 'ell," says the guy, "You can talk!"
"Of course I can talk," says the duck, "now help me get a job!"
"No problem," says the guy, and he rings up Billy Smarts circus, and negotiates 1000 a week for the new attraction, the "Amazing Talking Duck!"
"Thre you are," says the guy, "You start on Monday!"
"That's no bloody use to me," says the duck.
"Why ever not?" asks the guy.
"Because," says the duck, "I'm a bricklayer!"
China, it's an odd book - and very well written. It's narrated by Death - you know the hoodie with the scythe - except he says he's not like that at all - in fact he has a great sense of humour and is enormously compassionate and very gentle. Anyway, basically, it's the story of a young girl - who has a love of books - living in Nazi Germany during World War II. I can't really give you a synopsis without spoiling it for you, but I'm sure you'd enjoy it. It made me laugh, and it made me cry. In fact it hurt my heart. It portrays the lives of ordinary German people - and the lot of the Jews - during that time and it really hits home. Do consider giving it go. I'd really appreciate your take on it. It's like nothing I've read before, and it's compulsive reading.

You chaps might enjoy it too. My husband read it and absolutely loved it.
Theland, I've just seen your posts, but haven't read them. I'll get back later - watching Bridget Jones now for the (about) fifth time. Still funny!
Theland, You could drive yourself nuts with this prophecy stuff. Even is it's true, which I very much doubt, what can anyone do about it? It's not worth worrying about. By the way, when your grogginess has passed, just out of interest, tell me where to find the date 1967.

What films have you bought? And why do you buy them rather than hire? Do you watch them all over and over? There are few films I can do that with - but Bridget is one of them. Others are Four Weddings and a Funeral, Singing in the Rain and Some Like it Hot. So funny!!! And I can watch the BBC's Pride and Prejudice with Jennifer Elhe and Colin Firth, any time!! I love that.

My colourist at the hairdressers has his eyebrows waxed - and facials - and manicures. I was talking to him about it on Thursday. Maybe it's not for you, though, eh?
You like Bridget Jones?!That insult to females everywhere?! Austen would be doing a 360 in her grave if she thought that's what her most loved creation had inspired!!

Gives Naomi a funny look and goes looking for the key to the wine celler muttering under her breath

(I'll look in to the book next time I'm in the library).
I've got both Pride and Prejudices. I think I prefer the BBC female but the film male. That said, they're both very good. I like that there are pigs in the film one, I'm very fond of pigs. They're funny. Haveyou seen Becomming Jane? That <is</i<lovely. Not sure how true though. I know she was proposed to several times but can't remember all the circumstances.

I can watch quite a few films over and over. My long standing favourite (lasted ever since I saw it a few years back) is Dead Mans Shoes which is just superb.
Waxed eyebrows would not go down well in the engine room. But i'll work on it.
I'll get back you on the 1967 bit. I'll revise. It's true, honestly!
China, yes I like Bridget Jones. She's so scatty, I can't help laughing at her - and I'm sure you're right. Jane Austen would be spinning in her grave!

P&P - I've got both films, and can watch the BBC version - and read the book - over and over again. However, I've only watched the film adaptation once. Keira Knightley, for me, will never be Lizzie Bennet. I thought that was one of the best examples of miscasting I have ever encountered. I prefer Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth in both roles. I have seen Becoming Jane. Have you been to her house at Chawton? Very interesting. We also went to her grave in Winchester Cathedral.

Do you like the Brontes? I love Jane Eyre, and Wuthering Heights too.

Theland, I eagerly await the results of your research.
Wuthering Heights is a wonderful book as is Jane Eyre. So yes, I suppose I do like the Brontes. I mean, who doesn't like Heathcliffe? Even if he is a raging psycopath... Or 'misunderstood' as I once argued in an English class to good effect suprisingly. I could have torn my own argument in to pieces.. Hey ho.

Jennifer Ehle is a better Lizzie and Kiera plays her in more or less the exact same way but I think the award for gross miscasting goes to the utter idiot for putting that awful, snivelling, whingey, Gwyneth Powtro (sp) as Emma. Emma is by far my least liked of all Jane Austens heroines but to have that silly tart play her was an insult. Emma may be annoying but she is very far away from the blonde bimbo as portrayed in the GP adaption. I'd have actually got up from my grave to bitch slap the castiing director for that one... On my way back to the grave I'd take the author of Bridget Jones with me and sentance her to a life time of sevitude in CB. That'll learn 'em both!

Chawton hmmm? Thinks hard Is it a museum type place with a lovely little pub oppersite with a grape vine tressel? My ex and I found this place once while out driving in surrey but alas it was closed so we couldn't go in. I think we went in to the pub for lunch instead but I could be confused. I visited Mary Wolstengraft and William Godwins graves in Bournmouth though and took some flowers with me. I've probably more time for Mary and her offspring than I do for the Bronte sisters in all fairness even if I am a fan of Rochester and Heathcliffe.
Question Author
Naomi and Theland, (not necessarily in that order):

In spite of what you have failed to gather from our conversations given my reluctance to be completely and thoroughly candid regarding my personal life, I assure you that even amongst those who have know me for years, not excluding those who have lived with me for extended periods of time, or myself for that matter, I remain enigmatic. I suspect that China, given her unique ability to lure even this shy mouse from out of the woodwork for private conversations, can vouch for that.

Question: What were the circumstances leading up to each of you becoming ensnared in the answerbank trap?

Ive considered submitting this question in, perhaps, Society and Culture, however, I am most interested in the stories of sanctuarians. This might provide some insight into each others personalities . . . (although you are invited to post this or a similar question elsewhere if you wish)

For me it all began with a maths question. Not sure of where to post it I opted for the AB Suggestions category. Having perused other questions (mostly in science) in the hope of determining the topic most appropriate to my question proved to be quite fascinating and the debates irresistible.

I had previously and have since explored other forums but answerbanks format has an allure Ive found nowhere else (although I miss the coloured text option ab used to offer :o(

Perhaps what Ive found most addictive here is the distinctive variety of personalities that frequent this forum along with the almost familial intimacy and virtual sibling rivalry presented here amongst a seeming majority of the usual suspects. . . (I know . . . could this really be mibs talking like this?

So would anyone else care to relate the story of their personal seduction into answerbank captivity?
