There are a lot of categories and a lot of posts. I doubt a mod goes out of his or her way to trawl through each category, checking every thread in case a spam post has been missed.

As for it being inefficient, are there hundreds of spam posts you want to bring to a mod's attention?

Removing spam must be the most tedious of the roles, it's deciding which of the regulars can say what to each other that must be the fun part that generates some degree of ego massage.

ETCH, that appears to be in the order the thread appeared and not the date the post was added and some spam is added to a random thread.

Either way, it's not (unless someone knows otherwise) as if there were a huge number of spam posts waiting to be deleted

ETCH, the "Most Recent" shows threads posted within the last month. There are threads that are yonks old, bubbling away in the background with folk having conversations on threads first posted five year ago.

No idea who keeps an eye on the likes of those.

Any spam posted on a thread that started more than a month ago will not appear in the "Most Recent" list.

THECORBYLOON - I agree, any spam posted on a thread that started more than a month ago will not appear in the "Most Recent" list (because of the date of the OP), but any thread, even those started more than a month ago, to which spam is added WILL appear in the "Recently Answered" list, that I linked to at 15:59.

ETCH, the six threads in the "Recently Added" can change within minutes and a spam post would not then show up in it.

What's the big deal? As mentioned, its off recent answers quickly and if everyone ignores the spam instead of contributing 'Reported' to the post, it will eventually drop off. If a post gets no hits they try elsewhere.
