I'm trying to work out which year we got our first television set.
All I know is that my Dad bought it because there was a special match when Manchester United were playing.Might have been a cup final and was definitely in the 1950's.
Any help please?

1953, for the Queen's Coronation. I think it was an Ecko, and very small!But as a small 8 year old, I sat on the floor in front of all our family and friends

My dad got our first TV for the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, it was a 14" Sobel from Robinson Rentals (which later merged or was taken over by Radio Rentals). It was of course b&w and only received the BBC and didn't even have a remote! ITV came in a few years later and arrived at our house on the day we were off to Westward Ho on summer holiday, I didn't want to go, I wanted to stay behind and watch the new channel.
