Avast Blocking My External Hard Drive
My Avast demanded to be updated yesterday, so I did. Now when I plug my external hard drive in (a little Maxell portable) nothing comes up and I can't back things up. I assume these two events are connected as there was no trouble till today.
Is there any way to tell Avast to permit it? Or of restoring the earlier Avast? (Though I assume the latter would be risky.)
(Please don't advise installing MSE instead as I had the same trouble with it in the past; that's why I installed Avast in the first place.)

I use up-to-date Avast on W8.1 and don't have this problem. If you right-click the Avast icon in the task tray you'll find the 'Avast Shield Controls' where you can disable it for a period - see if the drive is recognised when Avast is disabled. I suspect it won't make a difference.

Oh jno, is it worth it? I have a terrible pain in my jaw and it is still slightly swollen, maybe I should have the damned lot out . Going back on Monday to see what she can do about fitting some teeth.
Had to do my hair roots today, being white blonde is great looking but a bind, I shouldn't be having roots at my age! Was dreading the yellowy look, and then silly me I found that they include a blue conditioner ( I never use conditioner normally but I did this time) then plastered oodles and oodles of blue foam and the colour is fine, stiff as a board, so had to brush it and rub in serum and it is fine, but by 'eck I can't do this every 2 weeks! I also hacked away at it with thinning scissors and looks OK so have saved some money.
Bought a sit up lilo and a swim ring for the pool, all I need now is a noodle and I'm set for the summer! Oh and to fill the pool!

yes, neti, he drilled away the bit that was making my gum hurt. I knew what the problem was but I wasn't sure he could just get rid of it without weakening the plate, but he did. All is sell now until the gum heals som more, I suppose, then I'll go back and have it done again.
My dad had all his out when he was 21, a lot of people did in those days. But I never wanted to put my teeth in a glass overnight.

Morning biddies, my we are thin on the ground aren't we?
Hija decided to come home last night so it was a big rush at 23.30 to clean the room, then cat had peed in a corner amd the smell was awful so I had to clean that and change all her gravel and towels.
I went out at 8.30 to dump the smelly kitchen rubbish as the car was here and Mr N doesn't ever think to take it. Got caught in school traffic!
I did hija's washing and went to village for coffee with her saying she'd meet me later for brekkie, but then she had a lie-in so I bought croissants and went home, where I ironed her dry
uniform. She's now gone to work and is coming home again tonight ( I think the guys she's sharing with have finally moved back in and she not happy) and she wants to come shopping so Daddy can Pay!

Good morning. What dreadful happenings in London, where and when will this all end? Some girl rear ended Hija last night in a traffic queue and we now cannot get he car boot open, so Mr N is trying to have a go. May have to claim on insurance!!Really really annoying.
I hope you all have a good day, those of you who pop I. Here

sad news from London, but like the earlier news from Westminster Bridge I just think this is the price to pay for living in a big city. The only way to deal with nutters in vehicles is banning vehicles and knives, and neither is remotely feasible. Or shooting all Muslims, which would solve the problem but be utterly abhorrent to the British way of life (though it would probably be approved by a lot of ABers). But I was much more upset by the Manchester attack on young people. I am not going to stop going into London when I feel the urge.
Have just had lunch in the garden with a couple of friends; the promised T-storms have yet to happen. The usual topics of conversation - Brexit: are they mad? - and rather a lot of prosecco, cava and chardonnay. One left early as she is going to a party this evening with a contortionist and a lady lion tamer (she does lead an interesting life), the other stayed awhile to help with the chardonnay. I am now back at my keyboard.
