Avast Blocking My External Hard Drive

My Avast demanded to be updated yesterday, so I did. Now when I plug my external hard drive in (a little Maxell portable) nothing comes up and I can't back things up. I assume these two events are connected as there was no trouble till today.

Is there any way to tell Avast to permit it? Or of restoring the earlier Avast? (Though I assume the latter would be risky.)

(Please don't advise installing MSE instead as I had the same trouble with it in the past; that's why I installed Avast in the first place.)

Well for anyone looking in, yes I used the pool and it was nice. Mr N put the pergola over it and it works. Lots of shade.

Another grey windy day here. Nothing as exciting as swimming pools and chateaux here, just more election stuff everywhere, mega aches n pains everywhere and feeling a tad peed off. I've never had such prolonged miserable flare ups before, I blame the government. I'll see what this new gp has to say next week.

Yes neti, Casualty was harrowing, horrible woman and family. I wasn't in the mood for The Loch last night so I watched Paul Hollywood's Continental Road Trip and really enjoyed it. He was en France :) I'm going to watch the previous episodes on iplayer.

Afternoon all
It's a muggy ,cloudy and very windy day.
All these cathedrals and chateaux sound lovely Jno .I couldn't walk around anywhere like that these days unfortunately. I can just about hobble to the High St and even take a taxi to the hairdressers now.
Hope you're all ok though .Sorry you feel a bit rough Robinia .It's really mizz making isn't it .
I watched The Loch.Too many characters .I got lost as to who was who.
This election etc is getting on my nerves now.They couldn't run a P-ss up in a brewery.We're the laughing stock of Europe.Bet her Maj is fed up with it.She wants to go to Ascot ..lol.

It took a while for the clouds to buzz off, but nice and warm after that. The gardens at Villandry chateau are fab. Lots of it is kitchen garden but they still have to plant their cabbages in geometric patterns, ensure the colour schemes don't clash, then rotate everything every three years.

never went out for drive...we all decided to laze around instead. Today I have finished sorting clothes, all my shirts and jeans now fit into one wardrobe and all the worn out and “what was I thinking” ones are bagged up ready for the first clothes for a good cause bag I get in my mailbox. Feeling smug :)

Dentist cancelled so no teeth. Got to wait 3 days to see what insurance will do re car.
Am sunbathing and swimming. Lilo unpluffed on me. New pergola seems to have a tear in it already. Have bought some coloured solar light to hang in it if there's anything left of it in this faint breeze.
Already fed up with the summer, I need an excuse to go indoors. I've already steamed the mattresses just for something to do.
Summer bah humbug!
