Avast Blocking My External Hard Drive

My Avast demanded to be updated yesterday, so I did. Now when I plug my external hard drive in (a little Maxell portable) nothing comes up and I can't back things up. I assume these two events are connected as there was no trouble till today.

Is there any way to tell Avast to permit it? Or of restoring the earlier Avast? (Though I assume the latter would be risky.)

(Please don't advise installing MSE instead as I had the same trouble with it in the past; that's why I installed Avast in the first place.)

Hello all. Hija is winging her way across Italy, miss her so much, how ridiculous!
Jno the bonfires in A Eastbourne this weekend are in fact nothing to do with Guy Fawkes. Its to commemorate something between the catholics and the protestants.

Amazing....this year two places who usually have firework displays are not....one is part funded by the parish council so I get that cancellation, but the other is a Round Table event which has run since time immemorial.....I wonder if the tide is turning?

neti, Guy Fawkes was a Catholic trying to blow up the Protestant parliament so it all ties in, sort of. The Eastbourne group does a steampunk festival too but I'm not sure what worship that involves

Hija is having a lovely journey with Turkish Airlines, free food and wine, own TV etc. She's now passing over Ankara,,should land at midnight my time. I have cleared hija's room and made wardrobe space for sister with loads of hangers, terrible snotty nose and sore throat, but I endeavoured to make a chicken and ham, mushroom and pea pie for dinner as can't forget about Mr. N. Served with frozen chips which are actually quite nice, I put that down to my lidl deep fryer recently cleaned! Caught a nasty little tiger mosquito hovering around my poor bitten legs, so managed to squash it, they are so much smaller than normal mosses. Little b.ggers.

"17 Protestant martyrs burned at the stake in Lewes. Hence religious connotations. Also 'sparked ' the Guy Fawkes . Nearly every town and village has Bonfire Society" so,it started as a anti Catholic protest. The famous Lewes bonfire night used to be either Catholic or protestant, but these days it's a night out and fun!

That's a lot of fireworks Woofy.
Haven't heard any round here as yet.
We've only just got rid of the weekly fireworks they have here from the beginning of July until the end of August and they start them at 10 pm of a night.It drives people potty especially those who live near the seafront.The council cut local stuff but can find plenty of dosh to burn.
I think we should all get together and light a bonfire outside the Town Hall and throw our council tax bills on it.
Grumble ,mumble ...lol.
It's been a dreary,gloomy day here,not a breath of wind or glimmer of sun but according to the forecast we could be 20C plus by the weekend.

Hello all. Lost my voice and it's an effort to talk, got stinking cold but don't feel bad. Glad I did most of the cleaning yesterday as I'm tired today. Still taken forever to get room ready for sister and now the damn tv has loud lines and interference on it in that room, no idea why? Just decided to clean fridge as it was rather disgusting. I also had to bleach bathroom grout as it was looking black in places, not that many, but that hasn't done my throat much good either. Thank heavens the horrendous heat has gone. Hija is installed in her bedsit with a balcony in Dubai, I just hope it's not on the 40th floor!

Poor sis was on her plane for 45mins and then told it was cancelled. She sais airport was a huge shouting mess and she gave up trying to rebook . she got the last train back to Eastbourne. All spanish flight departing and arriving are now cancelled
Doubt she'll be able to come now as near the end of the season and no direct flights and who wants to spend 8hrs waiting in Barcelona!!! Really really annoyed with the French!!

Morning. Have got a new Samsung j7 phone. It's rather small!
In French workers were on strike from 9-11 Oct so She's flight was cancelled. She's now coming on Sat.
Can hardly speak.

Sunny atm but rain forecast later.It was a lovely day yesterday though.
Quite warm and sunny so we had a mooch into town.First time I've been over the bridge for ages.Bought some foodstuff in the market,had a cone of chips and that was enough excitement for now.
How annoying and inconvenient Neti.I'm glad she's got another flight though.The whole world seems to be in a muddle lately.

yes Neti, better to get over the bugs before she arrives. I have ordered a delivery of chinese takeaway! First time I have had one in years but I have heard good things of one and they deliver so thought I'd give it a go. I use to love a decent chinese.

Afternoon all, your Derby correspondent here. No exciting news to report but is it your birthday neti? My sis and b-i-l have been slapping some emulsion round, the place looks like it's been ransacked and I can't find my book with birthdays in.

Hope the rest of you are ok. I've got to crack on with the cleaning and tidying, I'm having a new sofa and chair on Monday...I'll probably be doing a lot of lolling this winter, assuming we don't all get wiped out by the Black Death of course. :)

Yes Robi tis my birthday, 73! I've been here waiting since 6am to be acknowledged so thank you. I think I have the Black death, cold no better, no voice and bitten to bits last night. Don't feel up to much so Mr N and I went to a little village for Tom on toast and a plate of Mahon cheese. Then we drove around the North of the island, it is so pretty, but ì wanted to get home, it's so hot still. Chinese take away tonight! Yay!
