Can anyone help a complete computer idiot ?
I always download a couple of crosswords from the web which are in Pdf format. When I try to do this today my computer freezes ,they won't load and I have to log off and restart. The Adobe reader thingy is obviously not working . Tried a systems restore but that doesn't do anything either .I have no idea how to download another reader and am missing my Spectator crossword fix !
We use Firefox .
Any ideas ..thank you .

Kit I was never a really early riser before I retired as I couldn't adjust my day to accommodate it, also the New forest was quieter and there were more places that you could give dogs a really good run without meeting kids, joggers, picknickers etcet. Having started early walks there are loads of benefits, its much cooler and quieter, also less ticks around. The other nasty we have is a kind of fly that lives on the horses and cattle I think its called a stable fly, the local name is crab fly the get on animals and people then just stay there, they don't fly off, will burrow into the animals fur (or humans hair or clothing UGH) They drive dogs mad as they itch so, the only cure is to take the things off by hand and kill them. Anyway they don't get up till its warmer so by going out early we avoid them.
beddy byes now till later..it rained last night but not enough to do any good

Morning all...phew it's bloomin humid, this is the weather that makes poor Charlie hobble.
Nope neti, I'm less cheerful, to the point of feeling sick. Family are 5 hrs into the second leg of the journey (Dubai to Perth) & I hate to think of them up there. Flights have all been bang on time so that's something at least. They'll arrive at about 6pm our time.
You lot are terrible, you wouldn't find me lusting after younger men, tut.....

Me neither Robinia ...I'll stick with John Nettles and Michael Kitchen and Neil Oliver on Sundays :) I hope your family arrive safe and sound .
Nothing doing here .The nurse came and had a look at Mr S yesterday and he sees the GP this afternoon .He's a bit miserable but then so would I be if I'd had an umbrella shoved up my bum.
Sorry to hear you have to have things done in that direction too Jno. Fingers crossed for you .
Humid here too and rain forecast .I'll believe it when I see it .
Hope Mr Woofies tests are all OK .
Love to you all xx

this is just a virtual oscopy, which the man said would be less invasive than a real oscopy. So it's basically a scan. But I still have to have the lax stuff and the dye and I do get things inserted, probably little men with lights on their helmets and gas pumps to inflate me, plus I get cannulas and things stuck in me. Not really my idea of non-invasive. Maybe I'll be allowed to plug in my iPod to distract me, but I don't know if that will interfere with the imaging (my scan might end up looking like Debbie Harry or someone). Alternatively I could stick photos of Johnny Depp up on the wall to look at; a good swoon would probably count as mild sedation.
ugh! That sounds horrible jno...If, heaven forbid, anyone mentioned 'oscopy' to me they wouldn't need to give me any laxatives, the mere mention would do the trick. Hope it all goes well...Could I just ask please, on this occasion, no photographs.
All the best to Mr W & Mr S...my friend's husband had a similar op shaney & he recovered quite quickly. You forgot about Clive! (ok, I know he's younger but only muggymaureen will notice)

The nurse said yesterday that this bleeding from his rectum could take a couple of weeks to clear up ! It's most unpleasant .
Jno that sounds awful .They did various similar things to Mr S. under general anaesthetic . Have you lost any weight at all for no apparent reason ?
Ooh no .Poor Clive .Fancy leaving him out .Tut ... There's an actor in Law and Order who is to die for . Mind you he's twenty years older since they first made it . And, that guy in Bones,David Boreanaz is yummy ....

Woke up to a lovely sunny morning and sat on a friends verandah drinking tea and really relaxing. It didn't take long however for the sun to retreat and now its grey and humid. .Have had probably 4 or 5 spots of rain. Loads of horrid flies of various descriptions. This weather makes me so tired. Please let it rain.
Been to Lidls and Morrisons and now about to have lunch.
I definitely fancy younger men and not the oldies. I can dream!! Daniel is my ideal, blonde hair, blue penetrating eyes and that body. I know I am his ideal woman - just waiting for him to realise!!
Poor Mr S with an umbrella up his ...................... the mind boggles. Hope it goes OK for both Mr W and Mr S and their respective appointments.
jno, Mr LL had the non invasive thing at his last heart check up - in the department of nuclear medicine. He was advised not to have any close contact with people under 16 for 24 hours afterwards because he would still be radioactive!! All clever stuff. Anyway the results were really good and he doesn't have to go back to the hospital again - touch wood.
See you folks soon, I'm off to eat. xxxx

ha, what a wonderful idea, Lottie - I must draw up an enemies list pronto and go irradiate them.
I don't know if I get the umbrella. All I can say is that if it was me crawling around inside there I would definitely have an umbrella - and up, too. I envisage the little men in their crampons going round sticking Post-it notes to areas of especial scenic beauty for the scanner to photograph.
Shaney, I have not lost any weight, not for any reason at all. I do not do that sort of thing.

Afternoon possums. The sun is back after a short intermission. How I long for some thunder and lightning - and *then* the sun could return. I'm quite envious of your early morning walks with the dogs Woofy but I could never bring myself to that.
Erm, I'm not sure of just where you were planning to plug your iPod in, jno?!
*whispers to Jude* I watched a couple of Johnny interviews last night, he seems quite shy. He said his surname means 'idiot' in German ha ha... I could have told him in Swedish it's a colloquial word for "blueness", as in a slight, non-clinical depression. Did you know he has Cherokee ancestry. And did you hear this song, it's on YouTube: ♫♪Johnny Depp you are cruel/You're the harbinger of drool♪♫
*in a nonchalant tone* Oh I see Daniel Craig will be coming to Sweden http://www.deadline.c...th-the-dragon-tattoo/

Hi Shaney, get a load of this, they're making Mankell (and several other crime writers) into a stamp. The bullet holes on the Wallander stamp are "real" i.e. there are actual holes through the paper http://www.dn.se/kult...art-du-vill-1.1134653
