Windows 7 Photos

Hello
I have a lot of photos on CD they always appeared as thumbnails when the CD was inserted but now they only appear as icons no matter which view I use, often on changing the view the thumbnails appear for a spilt second then then revert back to the icons. I have been into Folders Search Options View and made sure that the always show icons never thumbnails box is not ticked, strange thing is the photos on my laptop do appear as thumbnails but not those on the CD. I have tried the CD in a friends laptop which is the same as mine and all the photos open as thumbnails.
