I have Kaspersky anti virus. I think it is a bit rubbish. Recently I inserted a flash drive into my computer that had been to an internet cafe. Kaspersky found a virus. It tried to delete it but then the only option was 'ignore'. delete and disinfect were greyed out. Ever since, the computer is really slow and if i try to run a scan it gets stuck on 23%. It's really annoying.

I was thinking of reinstalling Kaspersky, but would the key still work if i did this?
Any other ideas? Thanks

You may have malware / spyware that it turning your anti virus off or disabling it in some way.

Download malwarebytes (free version) and run that.

Like me you have the Full Kaspersky cover which is excellent.
mungbeanz is using the Kaspersky antivirus & I would suggest that he changes to the full internet version.

What kind of warnings? shortstraw? I put the flash in. Kaspersky pop up said it found a virus then the only option was to ignore. What was I supposed to do? The thing was red for a while then it went green again. Iff it's green does that mean that there is no virus?

Download the free version "Advance Systems Care" do a full scan , it takes a while but well worth it ;

Nothing wrong with karpersky.

I'd guess you either have windows XP (so no user account control) or a later version of windows and you've turned UAC off... I'd also guess you have autorun enabled for USB drives.... both of the above would enable any dodgy files on the usb stick to infect the computer easily.

Run a full scan with malwarebytes in safe mode and if that doesn't clear it try creating the karpersky rescue disk from within the kerpersky options and then boot the computer off that and run a scan.

Hi ChuckF . I have windows Vista. I don't remember turning owt off. I'll ty this malware bytes then.

Do you know about Karspersky then ChuckF? I got a virus before from a memory card I put in my laptop (windows 7) and every time Kaspersky tried to delete the virus it just came back, until the only option i was given was ignore. The thing was still red until I deleted the log, then it went green. Does this mean the virus has gone or thet Kaspersky is ignoring it? Very worrying if the latter.

I use Kapersky 2011 too, a bought version , got it from Ebay for only £9-99, works perfectly and does all I want it to

If you've told it to ignore it then that is exactly what it will be doing.

As I said, create the rescue disk from within kerpersky on the computer, then boot the computer from the rescue disk and scan with that.
