Has anyone else noticed that their computers are running rather slow today?
Different topics on AnswerBank are slow on loading, and when I type the letters take a second or so to appear, even the mouse pointer sometimes take a while to appear, and it's scrolling ability is slow to work.
Actually my local Virgin Media shop manager has told me that they are rolling out free of charge up to 30Mb to every customer who is currently on 10Mb.
If typed letters are taking a few moments to display, it's got nothing to do with your internet speed. It means that something's hogging your CPU's processing power.
When the problem occurs, press Ctrl-Alt-Delete to access the Task Manager. Click the 'Processes' tab and look down the CPU column. With the exception of System Idle Process, nothing should normally be into double figures. If anything else is showing high CPU usage, that's the cause of your problem.
AOG... by the sounds of your recent posts I'd seriously suggest it sounds like it's time to back all your documents up and reinstall windows on your computer. and start from fresh.
AOG, I've worked in IT for about 20 years and managed to become the IT manager for a medium sized company, since we have been bought out I'm now senior IT engineer for an international company..... believe me when I say a cable with pretty lights recommended by a hairdresser is a load of rubbish!
My professional opinion is from the questions I've seen you post recently is it's time to backup your docs, reinstall the operating system on your computer and start again.
