Hi Everyone
Just purchased the above television. The picture quality is second to non but the SOUND is shocking, it sounds like a transister radio that you can purchase for a pound. We bought this TV from John Lewis so i know that they would exchange it. Has anyone bought this TV, could you give me your opinion on the sound quality as i dont know if my TV has a sound fault. It is impossible to listen to it without surround sound. Please advise.

Take a look at: http:// reviews .cnet.c o.uk/tv s/panas onic-tx -l47e5b -review -500076 73/
I can see in that article that there are some audio settings to do with wall distance settings etc, maybe worth checking.

We have had the set since last wednesday which i purchased over the phone. I really dont know what to do, do i just leave the surround sound on all the time or do i send it back for a replacement but then will the replacement be the same. This is why i hoped that someone on Answerbank owned this TV and could give me their opinion
We've got a similar Panasonic model, I seem to remember that when it came out of the box, it sounded carp until the sound was set up properly using the onscreen menu, since then no probs.
If you've done this then maybe there is a fault, if you think so, speak to John Lewis and they'll advise you, afterall they don't want unhappy customers!

This is the last day you can return the tv under the Distance Selling Regulations.
You will be entitled to a full refund but you must telephone them now, otherwise you will be out of time.
So you have three choices:
Keep the tv and use surround sound all the time
Contact John Lewis and tell them the tv is faulty and you want a replacement or refund under the Sale of Goods Act
Contact John Lewis today and tell them you are rejecting the goods under the Distance Selling Regs and get a full refund.

Sorry, i had someone call round. Yes khandro and sipowicz, i have done all that and it is still awful, whatever i put the settings on it does not alter the sound. iv tried EVERY different setting. One more thing to add is that when i went back into my lounge after saying goodbye to my company, THE TV HAD SWITCHED ITSELF OFF. It went onto standby. It just gets worse.
