Have I got a virus?

Whenever i go to a search engine (google or yahoo etc) if i leave the cursor for a little while words start to appear. The words don't make any sense (then the was a very new ones he was a ). Just before the next words appear a ghost image of the bottom half of a set of characters appears then dissapears. Its just happened while typing this question so it isn't restricted to search engines. Does anyone know if I have a virus - or does this mean me computers possessed by an evil spirit? thanks

I haven't come across it if it is a virus. More likely your computer has "adware" software installed. This is annoying software which pops up adverts when you browse the web. Some also make your computer function as a relay, sending more adverts to others browsing the web. Visit http://www.lavasoft.de and download the AdAware utility. This scours your computer for this adware software and can remove it. I find it speeds up my web browsing.
