BING BONG!
Just a flying visit for now....
I'm loving all the latest additions to the rogues gallery but has anyone noticed the score on the door up there? ^ ^ ^
See your emails sometime over the weekend please, thank you, amen and out.
yes you need the highest resolution scan you can, 300 pixels or dots per inch is the standard...even then from old photos you can't do as much as you can with the new digital ones. The problem is as you know web images need to be small files which coarsens the image, you lose information you can't recover.
yes - what woofgang said - if the information isn't there, editing programmes can't bring it back; a low-resolution picture stays low-resolution however many zillion pixels you cram into it. Old pictures are generally fuzzier than new pictures. But you can do things like increasing contrast... of things that are there... and brightening colours.
Thanks all for the info on Photo Shop .I picked my brothers brains this morning and he has that paintshop pro thing .My sis in law then said not to waste my money ,it's just one of his tinkering things for when he's bored and it will only gather dust once it's time for him to get in his greenhouse and start planting veg . So he'll get vouchers from the fishing tackle shop for a change plus the usual bottle .
Very clever Sveedie :)
I've bookmarked that Lunapic and may try a bit of tinkering myself later .You are welcome to tinker with my mothers picture .Though I think it's just too faded now .It was taken circa 1922.
Perhaps you could tidy up my eyebrows here :)

I love the picture of your grandmother in her hat .It's lovely .You are very like her.
Hope you are all fine and dandy .Chin chin for now .
Aww thanks Shaney. Weird feeling seeing my grandmother on the internet... Another thing about Photoscape (which, I forgot to say, is an entirely free download) is you can make very nice collages with it http://i45.tinypic.com/2d9qqnb.jpg Robi and Jude are in the same room judging by the wallpaper he he... (Woofy, Dolly and Lottie if you post your portraits I'll include them.) Eyebrows, what's wrong with your eyebrows Shaney, they're perfect. For my next incarnation I want 2 eyebrows and 1 @ss cos I sure wasn't given any of those in this one. Re your mother's portrait I did have a go but as I said there just wasn't enough "information" in it to make a difference with. Sorry:'(

Headmistress I've got homes if one's needed; there's an email for you.
What a great photo session. There have been some brilliant ones put on here. I love it. You biddies are clever with all this photoscaping palaver I wouldn't know where to start. I expect I could have got my blackie to look better through my kitchen window than I did. Anyway I am going to a class starting in April to learn how to use my digital camera properly. It is with a group call the University of the 3rd Age. Not sure what to expect except there will be a few oldies there.

I've not been back long from a party tonight. It was the 50th birthday of 2 of my friends from Sainsburys where I worked. They had a joint one as their birthdays are within months of each other. There were lots of friends from work who I hadn't seen for ages but the music was so loud we could hardly hear what was said. There was this disco which played some really good music and then a George Michael tribute who was very good. I'm hoarse with having to shout as we all had to do that to make ourselves heard Ha Ha!

Had my horlicks and I'm off to bed now. You all have a good night.

wow, swedie, I'm impressed!! I don't understand any of it jude either!!!
Good morning techie-wizzes,
hahahaha, <splutters weetipops>...I can't stop laughing at the collage with eeyore...brilliant. (sorry jno)...you're all such lovely people to accept this mickey taking with good humour.
This photo fixing is all a bit foreign to me, I can manage a bit of luna pic and I've got the Nero photo gizmo which does a similar thing. I think the fuzziness of old photos is often part of their charm...unless they're of me, in which case please feel free to convert me to an image of perfection.

<humph>, she never even waved...

I've got tears in my eyes from laughing at "heyulp"... and it's made me feel how weak my abdominal muscles really are! Ha ha ha ha ha ha! Heyulp, heyulp, ha ha ha ha ha!

Univesity of the 3rd Age, I'm not sure if that's about OAP or if it's something out of the X-files Jude, they could be aliens preparing to take over the world =:O (Just kidding. Scary name but the class sounds like lots of fun!)

I'm sending a new home out so check your emails a little later, folks.
