It looks so old fashioned now but of course thinking about it my sister would now be pushing 84 !
Yes Robinia ...I think we'd kick up a storm on that .Do you think it would get us to Woolly and back ?

tinypic wont let me upload anymore, I'll try again tomorrow!
Aww Shaney that's lovely. That photo has an almost ethereal quality.
Kit, I have Photoshop Elements 3.0, which is now well out of date (I think they're up to 8.0) but does what I want. No paper manual with it when I got it but onscreen help. However there are useful books such as Photoshop for Dummies, and many others, which are helpful. It has lots of functions I never use. I mostly use sharpening, which tidies up the pixels a bit, levels to play around with the contrast, and maybe adjusting the colour here and there; plus spinning it if I haven't got it quite straight (happens a lot with these lightweight cameras) and cropping it to improve the framing. And the clone tool is very useful - you can copy something you like, as small as one pixel, to somewhere else, which has more uses than you would think.
Thanks jno. I'm thinking of getting it but I would want the full monty as I want to do layering and reeeally clean cut-outs and I don't believe that's in Elements, or at least not layering? I won't sleep until you explain to me what uses there are for copying one pixel, you know.
Question Author
what are you two talking about????
yes you can use layers in elements. I have just gone from paintshop pro to photoshop elements cos you can't get PSP for a Mac. Yes it does clean cutouts with the magnetic lasso (ver 8 does anyway)
They're trying to sound complicated neti but they're really just chatting about their Etch- a-sketch's.

Morning all...Certainly more liberty bodice than cotton frock weather today...what lovely pics! I think I've already posted some of me in various creations from the 50s, I'll have a look for another 1 or 2 this afternoon. I can still remember some of my dresses & the smell when they were freshly starched & ironed. One in particular that I loved was turquoise stars on white at the top & the reverse on the bottom half.... and another bright blue & red one with camels & pyramids on...and of course there was the infamous fruit print skirt, do you remember, I'm sure I've said already? I wanted to wear it to go out...mum said no (I think it was getting past it's best)...I threw a tantrum...she threw the clothes brush - which hit me on the head. So that's why I have problems :o)

Anyhoo gotta whooosh for a while, I think I'll need the Robishmobile ...we'll head on over to Wooly when the wind's in the right direction later shaney.

This is me and Mr N (no he's not wearing yellow!) with Kid Jensen when we all hung around together int he 70's!!
yes, you have layers in Elements though I've never actually used them. And the cutouts I get with the magnetic lasso are amazingly NOT clean, so I just do them by hand. Sometimes after cutting something out I'll fix any funny-looking edges by cloning one pixel at a time but only if it's snowing out and I have a lot of time on my hands and I'm feeling more than usually pernickety.

Well, there aren't any ferries trapped in ice around my way... unlike some...

but there's still frost on the grass.
ah yes, neti, I remember the era, when efforts were being taken to reduce the European denim mountain by requiring everyone to use more than necessary below the knees. I don't know what a Kid Jensen is, though.
Question Author
Kid Jensen, now known as David Jensen was at that time a very famous disc jockey, doing Top of the Pops etc, he's still around doing his stuff! Where were you then jno????
Question Author
Why would anyone be on a ferry there at this time of year anyway??
not in Britain, neti. Lying under my banana palm tree possibly. Dreaming of what the concept of 'stuck in ice' might involve, as the only ice I knew was in drinks.

My wedding day, the dress was actually green (unlucky - god yes!!) We came from Ibiza overland on the bus (3 days), and stopped over in Barça where I bought these boots in El Corte Ingles, but they were so tight round the calf that I couldn't get them off so we had to buy them, we did get them off before boarding the bus again. I was going to just wear casual jeans but M-in-l wanted me to wear a dress ( she made me try on loads of meringues!!) so I bought this one to keep her happy!!!!
