Couple of years ago I got an online deal with Lufthansa for a UK to Singapore return flight for a mere £437. (BA wanted £1500!!)The invoice showed the price breakdown. Basic Fare - £145!! The balance was all security levy, departure tax, etc, etc.
Most of the cash is used to build massive storage boxes for carbon.
Anything left over is used to buy ill-fitting uniforms for surly employees.
Apparently.
