Also compare the differential between selling and buying (not that you will come back with any!!!). I have used the Post office and they are quite reasonable. But I would shop around. It is worth an hour of your life to check. Enjoy your break.
Alison - Not trying to put a damper on anything, but due to the Spanish truckers strike a lot of hotels are running out of supplies. This especially applies to the islands which rely on stuff being trucked in via ferry. If the strike hasn't finished in the next few days, it might be worth dropping the hotel an e mail to see what the situation is. Sorry to be a bit of a Jeremiah! Hope it all goes well.
M+S give a good rate, but I'm not sure if you need to have an m+s card to get it.
The Post office is commission free, and the euro's 1.19, and euro t/cs's were 1.21 today.
The Post Office credit card offers no foreign exchange fees, which means you'll get a much better exchange rate. (If you use ANY card in an ATM you'll get hit with a charge - prob 2, which can mount up over a holiday).
The rate using the PO credit card in shops/restaurants works out around 2% better than the usual exchange rate.
