all ladies are different and go through it at different times and all have different experinces of it, but genarally it could start at 40 and over but there are exceptions and people go through the change younger than this.
my mum went thru it when she was 36!!

As has already been mentioned the menopause can start at any age, it's not uncommon to start in your mid 40's but I have heard of women not starting theirs until they are into their 50's.

My mother in law started hers at 35, while my mum started hers at 50. Apparently the age you start can be hereditary ~ I am looking forward to mine, I have to say...

Yeah my granny sailed through it at 35 apparently, which is delightful for my poor mother who is and has been going through it for months :-( she is 48. My granny keeps saying "nonsence, I had NO problems with it" everytime my mum complains about night sweats or hot flushes lol
my mum had a terrible time - god I hope I dont go the same way,she was psycho woman!!
i'm 38 and having a crap time with it, those who don't suffer a bloody lucky, my mum was 45 and didn't even have a hot flush where as i have loads all the time and there not nice, even when its realy cold i can't stand the heating on and have to have a fan on me all night and i still keep waking up soaked, priods have a mind of there own come and go when they please, sometimes here for 4 weeks at one point then nothing for 6 months and then a flood again, very embarrassing as i get no warning, i even produce milk and my oldest child is 11, never breast fed and milk dried up as normal afterwards but now well, my body has gone mad, had lots of checks and it all comes down to those bloody hormones, its been like this 2-3 years now, WHEN WILL IT END!!!!!!!
