I hate warm beans. I can only eat them cold.

Rocky...I'd save a dinner but I wouldn't save half a can. The only tins I use are beans, tomatoes and mushy peas. The chances of me using them within a few days are pretty slim.

Left over dinners are packed up and sent out for work lunches...

That's what we do. I always make extra so I can take it to work, and sit always tastes better the next day.

A tv cook/chef, can't remember which one, said that overnight is fine... any longer and food should be transferred to a non metal container.

I eat a lot of tinned pineapple. I decant it into a ceramic bowl and cover with clingfilm. I find it tastes tinny if left in the tin. And if left uncovered it picks up other food smells from the fridge, be spring onions!
