An opinion by Andrew Sullivan in this week's NYMagazine...the first in a weekly series.
I know opinion will be divided, but it's there for all to read.

(Sorry originally posted in the wrong Trump thread, not that there are a lot to choose from!) What that article also reflects rather starkly is the easy ride, in fact, which Trump and his administration has to date had from the press generally.

Pasta....if the people shown in Eds video are typical of their type and class, and my experience of America over the last 40 years tends to say they are.....where are the massed protests from Trump supporters ?

I couldn't understand what that bearded chap was saying a lot of the time, but I did hear him say that he hadn't been to the Doctors in a very long time.

I can recall my Mum saying that it was like that here in 1948, when the NHS first started. People were going to the Dentist, let alone the Doctor, for the first time ever.

I have friends living in New England that are frightened of losing their jobs, not just because of the loss of income, but the loss of their health care insurance. The bearded chap said that he had never had insurance before.
gawd elp us another lefty love in!
Agree TTT ...
Murraymints 12.12 the land of the FREE, is the UK, OK! ask any immigrant.
murraymints
that remains to be seen !! bring back Obama !!
murraymints
bring back Mrs Obama then she can be te figure head for her old man to pull the strings

mikey4444 Minty....if only !

Perhaps we will get Mrs Obama in 4 years time ?

murraymints
why not she seems very capable and has the insight and experience of white House with guidence from him...

Please tell me why you think bringing back Obama would be a great idea.
Talbot..........where on earth do you expect us to start with that one !
Question too difficult for you?
better the devil you know !
Minty....that will do nicely !

Although I was going to add that Michelle isn't a racist, or a misogynist, and neither does she insult the parents of an American soldier killed in action.

I think that will be enough to be going on with !
Why is it better the devil you know?
Are you comfortable with civilians being killed so long as the man authorising the bomb-drop appears to be a nice fellow?

This blind adulation of Obama is bonkers!
then who might you suggest steps up Talbot?
And the blind adulation of Trump, from people like you isn't bonkers ?

Stop digging Talbot !
bombs will always be dropped somewhere and alas civilians will always suffer
Trump has multiple problems on all fronts now.
I'll tell you bad it is: Kelly Anne Conway is being touted as a possible replacement if Reince Priebus shuffles off (he being the man responsible for the travel ban fiasco)
Let's face it Michelle Keegan would be better never mind Michelle O'B.
I don't support Trump but I won't pretend someone who achieved nothing of note is some sort of Messiah.
You blinding ignore Obama's failings

From the Guardian no less ...

Why don't you get your foolish head out of the sand.

Talbot.....If you don't support Trump, why do you take every opportunity to pour ridicule on those of us who don't support him ?

Get off that fence !
Because you are acting like idiots, pretending that everything was great before Trump.

Have you got any comments on the Guardian article?
Yes I would like to say that that Guardian article is a pile of disingenuous nonsense. By the writer's own admission many of those bombs were dropped in wars against IS, many more were targetted asssassinations. I have no doubt that there were errors and collateral casualties and some of those may well be hard to justify. The implication, that there thousands of mass murders by some blood-lusting ruler, is just daft. Was Donald Trump delected on a ticket to put an end to it? No, he was not, indeed if his rhetoric is anything to go by he'd be even "worse". Trump would tear up the agreement with Iran, sabre-rattle at the Chinese and apparently not hesitate to use nuclear weapons against IS. So, you know, perhaps a legacy of getting us through 8 years with the reputation of the leader of the free world largely intact in the civilised world, is not such a bad thing :-)
'pile of disingenuous nonsense'.

That's about what I would expect from you, ich.

Ignore the facts because they are uncomfortable.
