Last week in a Times garden magazine they showed pictures of about 15 birds commonly seen in the garden (although they omitted the dreaded wood pigeon ) I have seen nearly all of them in my garden, but there was one picture of a small bird with a greyish face and breast that had 2 lighter stripes on the breast that I did not know. Today I noticed a pair of birds visiting the bird bath that fitted that description and had yellow and black bars to the wings. Having recycled the magazine I cannot remember their name. I have looked through 2 British bird books that I have and cannot find one with that description. It was the 2 lighter stripes that I recognised. Can someone please enlighten me?
