Not religious but just wanna know. As told at school Jesus died on the cross bur rose again hence Easter sunday. What i want to know is what he did after that and how did he eventually die. TIA

He returned to see his diciplies, told them about carrying on his work, and spreading the word of God, and then he was taken up into Heaven, to sit at the right hand of God The Father, where he will remain until the end of the world, when he will return to judge the living and the dead ...

So he never actually 'died' at all, which is the cornerstone of the Christian faith - anyone who believes in God will never die, but will live in everlasting peace in heaven.

in the bible it is written that jesus was raised from the dead on the third day after his crucifixion. matthew said that an angel appeared near his tomb and announced his resurrection to the women who had arrived to anoint the body. mark says that on the morning of his resurrection, jesus first appeared to mary magdalene. john says that when mary looked into the tomb, two angels asked her why she was crying and as she turned round she initially failed to recognize jesus until he spoke her name.

the acts of the apostles tell that Jesus appeared to various people in various places over the next forty days. hours after his resurrection, he appeared to two travellers on the road to emmaus. to his assembled disciples he showed himself on the evening after his resurrection. corinthians, the hebrews, and some other ancient sources mention he appeared to jacob. john reckoned that during one of these visits, thomas doubted the resurrection, but after being invited to place his finger in jesus' pierced side, believed it. then jesus went to galilee and showed himself to several of his disciples by the lake and on the mountain. these disciples were present when he returned to mount olivet. jesus sent his apostles to the gentiles with the great commission and ascended to heaven while a cloud concealed him from their sight. jesus promises to come again to fulfill the remainder of messianic prophecy.

It was exactly this part of the bible that has always made me question my faith, the fact that he appeared to so many people but none of them recognised him despite being so close to him. I mean I'd know my wife instantly so why the identification problem?Makes no sense to me no matter how anyone tries to explain it, unless someone can come up with a new take that I haven't thought of.

He didn't do anything. He was dead. there is historical evidence to confirm Jesus' death and subsequent interment. The fanciful belief that this undoubtedly ahead of his time humanitarian thinker "rose from the dead" has led to countless wars, countless deaths, countless conflicts and countless cases of abject misery. If you have to do a project about it at school, end your story with Jesus dying. And staying dead.

i think the original question was referring to what was told in the bible. anyway, what historical evidence are you referring to? news to me and i like history. in fact many girlyfriends have said to me 'you are history'. isnit.

also if you think religion causes wars then you are off the planet. that is if you think you are on earth by the way. people use religion as an excuse to cause war, but it is nearly always about power, wealth, territory and personal ambition. even before jesus was around there were wars so they haven't al been his fault.

and yes you are right, jesus is dead. nobody can live on earth for 2,000 years. but maybe he is just living i heaven seated at the right hand of the father and will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead..?

For a good insight on this, and other 'Biblical' facts, read "The Jesus Scroll" by Donovan Joyce. Probably out of print now [ came out in the early 70's] but may be obtainable via e-bay, library, 2nd hand book shops etc - its a great story that knocks great holes in a lot of the Bible - for instance, the Bible states that one of the disciples would betray Jesus 3 times before the **** crows - poultry were considered unclean, and were not allowed in Jerusalem. How could he have heard it!

i think everone is running away from what the bible clearly states in terms of jesus rising. Everyone has little or no faith when they have seen someone die in front of them and all of a sudden visited by their spirit (this being Thomas and the others who didnt believe) but why is it so many people throughout the World still believe and trust in this amazing event.

Well, for a start by far the majority of people on this earth are not Christians so it would be a bit foolish to argue the numbers game. Furthermore, it is no accident that what particular brand of religion a person believes in will almost certainly follow the religion of their parents and wider community which suggests indoctrination. People believe in lots of things, it doesn't make it so. We have to look at the evidence. The Bible is supposed to be the word of god yet it can't even tell a consistent account of the resurrection. If the Bible is a history book its not a very good one.
