Day 8 of hospital stay for severe jaundice In myself I feel fine Despite 2 MRIS (another one today) and an ultrasound they can't find the cause To say I'm fed up is an understatement Has anyone else had the same problem
If it is any consolation or reassurance,if you have no pain and the MRI scans are normal as are the blood tests ( I presume) then in all likelihood, we are not dealing with a life threatening situation.
Keep us informed as i will be interested in the outcome.
Sorry I can't help, granny grump. I can imagine how fed up you must be. Just wondering, do they put you under a blue light like they do with newborn babies who have jaundice?
I hope you get out soon having found the cause.
Thank you all for taking the time to answer I had a small bowel resection on 11 Nov which healed remarkably quickly The jandice didnt start until more than 2 weeks later and they don't think that the 2 are connected but I've been in longer with this than I was for major surgery When I get an answer I'll let you know
Well II spent 11 days in all in hospital. After numerous test they decided that it was not a surgical problem and passed me to the medical team They finally diagnosed 'Drug induced cholestatic jaundice likely secondary to co-amoxiclav' That's the medical jargon they explained it as an allergic reaction to the antibiotic. I have never been allergic to antibiotics before. On the mend now just have to have a weekly blood test for the next 8 weeks. It is odd as a friend that I go to a club with was in hospital at the same time with a reaction to a different antibiotic with different symptoms - she had a red rash all over her body. Another friend knew of someone who had had an allergic reaction to an antibiotic as well. It just seems strange
