Ginspiration

What can I put in my G&T to make it more interesting? I do like a wedge of lime and sometimes a knob of root ginger, but I would like to hear some other ideas....

Any recommendations or recipes welcome.

Im not a big gin drinker and I find Gordon's too harsh - although that can be improved with some Fever tree tonic (particularly the elderflower one).

I tend to buy gin from the farm shop which are normally smaller local distilleries. However, current favourite is cucumber gin. Love it!

Gin mare is lovely I garnish it with an orange slice and sprig of Rosemary and plain tonic

Yes, we’ve had gin mare (bottle is on the empty gin bottle shelf along with about fifty/sixty others)and found it a tad nondescript. Of course taste is like art and very much a personal thing.

LCG, if you're popping in to Waitrose have a look at their Roku gin - I was recently treated to a bottle for my birthday and it's now nearly at the top of my favourites. They recommend fresh ginger slices in it which is lovely but even better with a large wedge of lime.

I only drink gins with plain tonics and like to get the 'extra' with what I fancy adding.

Hi Cap'n, I've had Roku Gin before. It's okay but I prefer Martin Miller.

To be honest I used to love Larios Spanish Gin - they're a huge gin-loving nation.

Ooooo ... are we going elitist? Goodie! The best gin and tonic in the world - no idea of brands - can be had at the beautiful Opera House in Prague. Hmmm..... flights, hotel, opera tickets? Yep. It'll cost you. :o)

We had tickets to see Andrea Bocelli at the Hallenstadion in Zurich this September ... flights and hotel all paid for ... now they've moved the concert to September next year :-(

I doubt we'll get a refund for our flights and hotel this year.

cucumber is one option.
with the lime, I always squeeze one wedge into the bottom of the glass and add the other wedge on top. Gin for a G&T has to be Tanqueray, the tonic Schweppes and loads of ice, the Gin then filling 70% of the glass (with the ice in already).

of the non G&Ts, then I do like Sipsmith - on the rocks, NO Tonic, slice of something - it's as smooth as a Cointreau on the rocks. Blackwoods (from the Shetlands) is good and also Tarquin from down here (comes in zillions of flavours).

I completely forgot about Brooklyn Gin!!
We haven’t had it for ages but when I looked at our empty gin bottle collection and saw the bottle I couldn’t believe I’d forgotten about it, it’s delicious and worth trying.

I bought that for my mum once, vagus, but I've never tried it myself.

One of my favourite gins is Gin 22 from Marks & Spencer. It's absolutely luscious.
