Reading through this report it appears that Harry told the queen of their intention to name their daughter Lilibet, but contrary to their claim they didn’t actually seek her permission.
Goodness knows where all this controversy with those two will end, but the plot thickens.
A ridiculous theory, aBarsel, s they love their daughter and therefore wouldn't want to saddle her with the idea that, for her whole (probably 100+ years) life, she'll be named to cause misery to others at her birth.
Still, that doesn't stop others trying to saddle her with that idea, does it?
Barsel, it is just as likely (more than like in my voew) that his daughter is named after two women who he loved dearly and who both had a profound effect on him: his grandmother and hos mother.
My son share his middle name with his grandfather. I didn't pick it to spite any other family member, but to pay tribute to an important person in my life. I like to think that Harry's intention was similar.
Ellipsis you obvious don't read everyone's post or you would know that the theory was in response to what Zacs has been saying about well, theories.
I'm afraid you and I are just not on the same wavelength, we don't understand each other at all.
Mozz, just like Ellipsis, you and I are not on the same wavelength.
My brothers first name is the same as our Dads which was the same as his Dads and so on. No problem.
It wasn't an affectionate nickname and my Granddad wasn't the King of England.
Do you understand what I'm trying to say?
Barsel //It wasn't an affectionate nickname and my Granddad wasn't the King of England.//
But Harry's Grandmother is. Does that mean he hasn't the right to name his child after a Grandparent the same way we did? I think the "affectionate nickname" part is absolutely irrelevant. If my grandparent went by a nickname that I deemed acceptable, I wouldn't have hesitated.
///Does that mean he hasn't the right to name his child after a Grandparent the same way we did?///
Yes it does Mozz, because they have something called protocol and we don't.
I remember reading somewhere that Meghan didn't realise she had to curtsy to the Queen so she was shown how to do it, but then she thought that was it then, she didn't realise she had to curtsy every time.
Andrews girls don't work as Royals but they still have to curtsy and follow protocol.
We may never know for sure who said what and it really does not matter. Harry and Meghan live their lives in the media spotlight and the media are doing their job of talking about it. In the scheme of thing this is not much and it will go away to make way for the next headline.
