Reading through this report it appears that Harry told the queen of their intention to name their daughter Lilibet, but contrary to their claim they didn’t actually seek her permission.
Goodness knows where all this controversy with those two will end, but the plot thickens.
ladybirder, I read that her Mother is half black making Meghan a quarter black, making the babies no darker than anyone who has a bit of a tan.
It isn't about race and colour, it never has been, except for the people who want to make it about that.
Lb, she's not white either (although she looks it), she's mixed-race.
Although, unlike ellipsis, I don't think this has anything to do with race. I just think people just don't like the fact that she doesn't do as she's told by the royals. She seems to have a strong streak of independence about her which doesn't sit well with royal protocol and tradition, and because of this, Harry has put his marriage family before his birth family.
I know you didn't LB, all I meant is that if anyone was hateful of the Sussexes due to Meghan's ethnicity, it wouldn't matter how black she was, the fact that she isn't "white enough" would be enough reason.
Perhaps somebody else could explain to me how naming his daughter after a pet name for his grandmother can achieve the aim of being spiteful/hurtful/harmful/nasty towards his grandmother, without also being hurtful to his daughter?
What's really threatening to his daughter's future happiness is not her name, is what everybody else has to say about her name.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African_Americans
African Americans (also referred to as Black Americans or Afro-Americans) are Americans of ancestry from Black racial groups of Africa. The term African American generally denotes descendants of the enslaved Africans brought to the thirteen American colonies during the Atlantic slave trade, while recent Black immigrants to the United States (or their children) may also identify as African American.
Zacs how about theory number 8?
They chose the name Lilibet to get back at the way the Queen brought up P.Charles which then had the knock on effect of how Harry was brought up.
They chose the name Diana to get back at Charles because of his failed marriage.
Just a theory mind you.
