Classic sitcom genius writing and cast but one thing that occurs to me is that How did Hyacinth and Richard ever get together? I mean Once she found out his name was Bucket, being the upper-class wannabee she is, she'd have either dumped him or used another name. Or....perhaps she became a snob later...Yes I know it's best not to ask too many questions about these things.....!

//Why is it allowed on AB? Why does it pass the swear filter?//

Always thought it was a type of bird or rough cut baccy perhaps. :-)
or the nappe of a carpet or leather....?
In one programme in the series, Emmet asked Richard how he and Hyacinth came together. He explained that she chose him (rather than the other way around, obviously) because, when they first met, he'd just been promoted and she thought that he was destined to become really important on the council's staff.
Tilly, it's a euphemism rather than a swear word.
I appeared in one of the episode. Where they are waiting for the procession to the funeral at the town hall.
^^^ Wow!

A TV star in our midst!

Hang on while I fetch my autograph book, Caran!!!

;-)
The term Classic sitcom is the funniest thing I've ever read about it.
Roy Clarke, the writer also wrote the Last of the Summer Wine. He wrote and they aired a sequel to that called the First of the Summer Wine which chronicled all the characters teens and early years, and how they married (or didn’t).
A sad note throughout were a bunch of characters that we never heard of again, presumably killed in the war.
