Does anyone know of anyone who has attended AA and found it to be beneficial, or know of alternative help centres?
Thanks.

Hello warpig, how's you?
You've done brilliantly well so far in admitting the problem, already you are re-empowering yourself which is what you will be continuing to do as you quit drinking to excess, which you can, and I'm sure WILL do.
AA is not anything I'm mad keen on personally although there are millions of people it has worked for as I don't subscribe to the idea that you have to abstain for life. I drank vats, but now can drink or not drink, it doesn't bother me really. I can even in isolation get drunk and then not feel the compulsion to drink again. I used a form of NLP to quit excessive drinking and addressed my many problems at the same time, so I had nothing to hide from.If you want to msn me I can go into far more detail or just look up NLP on google and you'll get the gist.

You've done one of the hardest parts already, so don't be discouraged for any reason, you'll get there, it's just finding what will work best for you, which may well be AA, but there are alternatives as well.
