Been watching Masterchef Goes Large, and most of these people lover cooking so much, they want to give up good jobs to be a chef.
I can understand, people loving food, wanting to cook a wonderful menu of food for friends and family, then sitting down with them to enjoy the occasion and the meal.
But why do they want to be in a hot commercial kitchen, working long unsociable hours, cooking food for people they dont even get to meet.
wheres the enjoyment in that.

I know exactly what you mean. I think the glamour of the TV chefs is what most budding chefs aspire to. Unfortunately, they don't realise the damn hard work for very little pay they have to put up with on the way up.

Rewards are good if you're prepared to travel abroad to work in kitchens and if you're prepared to put in a lot of hard work but i personally couldn't stand the heat, the pressure or a head chef yelling orders at me !!!

Back to the nice tranquil gardening
I've thought exactly the same thing. I was a chef for 20 years and now I've given up work I'm enjoying cooking at home so much more.
I couldn't be bothered before after doing it all day long, now I have time to experiment and try new things ....trouble is the kids come home from school and go 'oh no mums cooking again!' wondering what strange delights are going to be put in front of them come teatime lol
