Stupid debit card

My debit card expired and they gave me a new one but CHANGED THE 16 DIGIT NUMBER! I am now really confused as to who I have to inform ie- will this affect my Direct Debits. I know it has affected T-Mobile, who couldn't take my payment this month as a result, but my Abbey(credit) card say they don't need the new number as the account and sort code is the same.
Aaargh. Any idea if I have to inform AOL, Sky, insurance etc?

It won't affect your direct debits as your bank account number and sort code should still be the same. It will only affect payments that you have set up using your card for regular payments (i.e if you gave the company the 16 digit number on the front with expiry date etc)

Thanks.... only problem is I can't remember if I set them up with my 16 digit number or my normal account number! Can't think back that far! x

Have you got online banking? If so you can check whether these are set up as direct debits or you can phone your bank and they should be able to help.

I would say that direct debits are the more common method of payment so they are more likely to be DDs.
